Physical Education Teacher (with coaching responsibilities)
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution. 2. Valid state certification in assigned field. 3. Health qualifications as stated in the policy manual.

JOB GOAL
To provide for each student a learning climate and experiences conducive to his/her well-being and maximum actualization of his/her potential.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Assumes responsibility for organizing the classroom to provide an effective teaching-learning climate. Understands and implements policies, rules and regulations of the local school and the Leeds City Schools Board of Education. Develops reasonable rules for school and/or classroom behavior and procedures. Maintains order in a fair and just manner with the aid of local administration and Leeds City Schools Board of Education policy. Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for non-professional staff. Evaluates cooperatively, with principal or department head and evaluates, the job performance of assigned substitute teachers and non-professional staff. Performs cooperatively as a team member of the local school staff. Attends staff meetings and serves on committees as requested. Assists in scheduling of students as requested by the principal. Utilizes available planning time effectively. Assists in planning and supervising extracurricular activities as requested. Outlines for substitute teacher a comprehensive schedule, complete with activities. Ensures that students are properly supervised. Performs other responsibilities as assigned by the principal. Complies with federal, state, and local bylaws and policies relating to respective programs, i.e., vocational education, special education, etc. Provides student statistical data as requested. Keeps accurate, up-to-date student records. Prepares and submits an instructional budget as requested. Collects and accounts for school monies as required by the principal. Inventories textbook and school equipment as required. Maintains other files and records as required by the principal. Plans and implements a program of professional self-development. Accepts responsibility in developing and participating actively in school and system in-service programs. Shares with new and experienced colleagues, information leading to their professional growth. Assumes responsibility for active membership in professional organizations. Strives to develop a humanistic approach to teaching students. Follows the Alabama Course of Study in each discipline and uses the textbooks prescribed by the Leeds City Schools Board of Education. Creates a classroom climate conducive to learning. Develops individual teacher performance objectives and works to achieve them. Establishes student performance objectives on a learning continuum. Develops and implements a plan for assessing individual student needs. Provides for individual differences, enrichments, etc. Employs instructional methods and materials designed to achieve stated objectives. Submits copies of long- and short-range plans to the principal as requested. Enhances the classroom environment with attractive bulletin boards or other displays denoting the subject or other displays denoting the subject or unit being taught. Maintains with students continuous evaluation of classroom goals and objectives. Utilizes services of specialists needed, as afforded by the school, the Leeds City Schools Board of Education, or outside agencies and approved by the principal. Use the community as an extension of the classroom to broaden the learning environment. Stimulates in students by example and encouragement, good housekeeping, and respect for school facilities. Reports needed maintenance to the principal. Cooperates in the proper care and storage of equipment and materials. Works cooperatively with the PTA/PTO and other school and community organizations. Attends, when possible, PTA/PTO meetings and other school-community functions. Communicate effectively with school patrons and the general public. Projects a good self-image, school and school system image to patrons and public. Perform all assigned duties regularly and promptly. Treat information regarding students and all school system personnel in a professional manner. Cooperates with other faculty members to utilize school facilities, materials, and equipment for maximum benefit to all students. Implements the professional code of ethics. Assumes responsibility for acting as a representative of the Leeds City Schools Board of Education in the solution of problems which might affect his/her specific assignment. Assumes responsibility to perform any work which is assigned by the Superintendent of Schools and/or his representative, including the immediate supervisor.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
1. Salary and work to be established by the Leeds City Schools Board of Education.
