Elementary Physical Education Teacher start August 2025 St Mark’s Episcopal Church and School 1800 E Oakland Park Blvd, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33334 Saint Mark’s is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Physical Education teacher to lead engaging and developmentally appropriate physical education classes for students from Pre-Kindergarten through grade 8. The ideal candidate should foster a passion and love for lifelong fitness, sports, movement education, cooperative learning, teamwork, sportsmanship and character-building.
YOU MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH PREK-8TH GRADE STUDENTS TO BE CONSIDERED
Key Responsibilities :
- Develop and implement a comprehensive, standards-based PE curriculum that supports physical, cognitive, and social development for PK-8th grade students.
- Create lesson plans that incorporate age-appropriate activities, skill development and fitness concepts.
- Ensure student safety by maintaining a structured and well-managed learning environment.
- Organize and supervise school-wide physical education activities, including field days and Presidential Physical Fitness Program and/or Intramural Program.
- Assess and track student progress through skill assessments, fitness testing and class participation.
- Promote a positive atmosphere that encourages all students to participate and develop confidence in physical activities.
- Maintain equipment, gym spaces and outdoor activity areas to ensure safety and functionality.
- Stay current with best practices in physical education, health and wellness education.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education or related field.
Certification:
Valid teaching certification in Physical Education (or willingness to obtain)
Experience :
Minimum of 3-5 years of teaching PE in a PK-8 setting. Strong classroom management skills. CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain) Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, parents, and staff. Passion for fostering healthy lifestyles and positive physical activity habits in young learners.
