Our ideal candidate is passionate about fostering a lifelong appreciation for physical health and wellness among students. They should be adept at integrating interdisciplinary instruction to support the IB philosophy and curriculum.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and implement a comprehensive PE curriculum aligned with IB standards and the school’s educational goals. Plan and deliver engaging and effective PE lessons that promote physical fitness, teamwork, and healthy lifestyle choices. Create an inclusive and supportive environment that encourages all students to participate and achieve their personal best. Integrate interdisciplinary instruction to connect physical education with other subject areas, enhancing overall student learning and development. Assess student performance and provide constructive feedback to support their physical and personal growth. Organize and supervise extracurricular sports activities, clubs, and events to further promote physical activity outside of the classroom. Collaborate with colleagues to develop and refine the PE curriculum, ensuring it meets the evolving needs of students and adheres to IB guidelines. Foster positive relationships with students, parents, and the school community to support student success and well-being. Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and other relevant information. Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in physical education and IB instruction.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred. Valid Florida teaching certification in Physical Education. Experience teaching PE at the middle/high school level; experience in an IB school is highly desirable. Strong understanding of the IB philosophy and commitment to interdisciplinary instruction. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to inspire and motivate students to develop a lifelong commitment to physical health. Strong organizational and classroom management skills. Commitment to ongoing professional growth and development.

Preferred Skills:

Experience coaching school sports teams or leading physical activity clubs. Knowledge of current trends and best practices in physical education and health. Ability to incorporate technology into PE instruction. Experience working in a diverse and multicultural school environment.
