Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field such as Education, Special Education, Physical Education, etc. Make a Difference Every Day The Emerge School for Autism seeks a compassionate, dedicated Adaptive Physical Education Teacher to join our exceptional team. This is an exciting opportunity to support students with autism and other developmental disabilities through adaptive physical education that is engaging, inclusive, and aligned with each student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP). We will pay for certification in Adaptive Physical Education for qualified candidates. Key Responsibilities Plan, organize, and implement structured APE lessons that optimize physical abilities and promote success for students with disabilities. Provide instruction on proper techniques and safety precautions for physical activities. Foster an inclusive environment that encourages physical fitness, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Deliver specially designed instruction in physical education aligned with each student’s IEP. Attend and contribute to annual IEP meetings for students receiving APE services. Conduct assessments, screenings, and evaluations related to APE services and provide written reports of findings. Enter accurate student data into the Special Education Reporting System (SER). Maintain ongoing documentation, progress reports (each 6 weeks), and student records. Assist with the SBLC (School Building Level Committee) process as needed. Stay current with federal and state policies related to Pupil Appraisal and Bulletin 1508. All services must comply with Louisiana state mandates and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).
