Our PE instructionwhichincludes sports, team building exercises, and physical exerciseisculturally-responsive, fast-paced, and fun. We have built acommunity that encourages respect, hard work, and celebrates ourstudents’ academic and nonacademic achievements. Our goal is forstudents to love learning and living a healthy lifestyle from thevery start. Responsibilities 1. Instruction
- You’ll create a safeand interactive environment where students feel empowered to engagein physical activity.
- You’ll develop students’ physical fitnessthrough team building activities; independent exercises such asstretching, cardio, and calisthenics, and structured sports andgames.
- You’ll help students build healthy habits in mindset andphysical activity.
- You’ll teach an engaging and culturallyresponsive PE curriculum that meets the needs of various types oflearners in your class. 2. School Culture
- You’ll build positiverelationships with students to ensure they feel seen, loved, andheard.
- You’ll partner with students’ families to ensureappropriate resources are available to support their child’slearning needs.
- You’ll engage in practice-based professionaldevelopment, mentorship, and coaching sessions.
- You’llparticipate in weekly, school-wide meetings to cultivate community,model our core values, and encourage student achievement.
Qualifications
- A demonstrated commitment to supporting students’social emotional and academic development
- An enthusiasm forcollaborating with internal and external partners in the bestinterest of students
- A self-directed learner who solicits andimplements feedback to improve outcomes and achieve objectives

Required Experience:
- A demonstrated interest in impacting K-12students in urban schools and communities (1-2 years experiencepreferred).
- An expertise in middle school education, physicaleducation, sports science and management, kinesiology, physicalfitness, or participation in collegiate athletics.
- Prior to thestart of employment, you must have a bachelor’s degree from anaccredited college or university.
Teacher certification is not aprerequisite for consideration at Uncommon Schools in the state ofNJ, but you do need to meet NJ state certification eligibilityrequirements (a final undergraduate or graduate cumulative GPA of3.0 for graduates on or after 9/1/16, or 2.75 if you graduatedprior to 9/1/16). All instructional staff are required to becomecertified in the state of New Jersey within a reasonable periodafter beginning employment. Additional Information Our people arewhat make us Uncommon. Our compensationphilosophy values equity & fairness and attracting & retaining toptalent. Benefits Compensation for this role is between $56,000 to$80,000. Starting pay is determined using various factors includingbut not limited to relevant full-time teaching experience,education certifications, and tenure with Uncommon Schools.
Candidates without full-time Teaching experience will likely have astarting salary of $56,000. Benefits
