The Physical Education teacher for our NY campus is responsible for creating a classroom environment that fosters, promotes, and develops an understanding of the relationship between healthy body function and exercise; that motivates each student to cultivate physical fitness, and appropriate social and emotional adjustment; that discovers and develops the talent of students in physical achievement; and that develops strength, skill, agility, poise, and coordination in individual, dual and team physical activities and sports, in accordance with each student’s ability.
Responsibilities:
Set up equipment prior to class. Provide an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of students. Prepare and implement lesson plans, providing appropriate learning experiences for each student. Establish and enforce rules of conduct; supervise students in the school or outside the school. Demonstrate skills being taught; assist students in performing skills. Teach safety rules related to each activity. Plan, organize, and coordinate field day Monitor and evaluate student skill levels and outcomes. Maintain student records following established procedures and practices. Prepare interim progress reports and quarterly report cards for participation in parent-teacher conferences. Communicate and interact with students, parents, staff, and the community. Monitor the use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities. Attend in-service training and workshops.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field At least three years of teaching experience in a related field preferred Dedication to learning and growing as an educator Excellent written and oral communication skills High level of personal organization, planning, and classroom management skills
