Position Summary:

Full-Time Temp (see current FUSA Contract – https://fusahcc.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/2019-2022-fusa-contract-final12-19-19.pdf ) Under the direction and supervision of the Associate Dean of EMS, prepares, develops, and delivers all instructional material as set for by the HCC EMS program in accordance with the most current National EMS Education Standards for EMT and paramedic instruction in lecture, lab, and clinical courses. Maintains working knowledge of current applicable CAAHEP/CoAEMSP guidelines as well as Florida FAC and State Statutes pertaining the job role. EMS Faculty shall meet with the approval of the HCC EMS Program Associate Dean and Medical Director.

Job duties:

Performs direct teaching and demonstration of EMT and/or paramedic skills and/or facilitates hands-on learning, in either a classroom, laboratory, or clinical as appropriate to the position. Evaluates and provides feedback to students, as appropriate, using exams, quizzes and student interaction. Maintains course and/or laboratory records. Instructs students on the most current curriculum as approved by the Florida DOE and

under the direction of the Associate Dean of EMS as appropriate including: patient assessment and treatment of a variety of medical and trauma emergencies and in the use and care of a broad range of emergency patient care equipment to include but not limited to cardiac monitors/defibrillators, patient stabilization equipment, and airway management equipment. Ensures adherence to established college and departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs, and safety standards. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

Florida certified paramedic, A.S. Degree in EMS or related field, (minimum), Must meet SACS and 64J-1 instructor qualifications, Knowledge of EMT/ Paramedic theory and practice, ability to practice at a level appropriate to the level of instruction being provided, ability to prepare and administer exams, quizzes and evaluations to students, knowledge and understanding of the operation and maintenance requirements of a range of emergency medical equipment and simulation equipment, ability to assess student performance and to provide appropriate feedback and ability to work both independently and in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

A bachelor’s degree in related field or higher, 5 or more years of prehospital ALS 911 Response experience in the state of Florida, 5 or more years of EMS educator experience, AHA Instructor in

ACLS, PALS, BLS

(current), NAMET Instructor in

PHTLS, EPC, GEMS, AMLS

(current), current NREMT (NRP) Paramedic certification, knowledge, experience, and training in healthcare simutation and working knowledge of the following computer platforms:

FISDAP, JBL

Navigate 2, CANVAS LMS, Workday, Office 365, myLab Brady, and Platinum Education.

Pay Rate:

Faculty members will be assigned to the appropriate salary grade based on the contract with the faculty union Grade 3: Bachelor’s Degree with 18 graduate semester hours in field $48,073.36 Grade 2: Master’s Degree with 18 graduate semester hours in field $50,421.94 Grade 2+: Master’s Degree with 30 graduate semester hours in the field $53,004.11 Grade 1: PhD in major field $55,587.43 Up to four salary steps may be applied to the starting salary based on experience.
