The position will assist the Center Administrator with management and programmatic oversight for the assigned Head Start Center. Duties Maintain an up-to-date listing of all staff credentials and records on professional development pursuit status for those pursuing degree course work to assure staff progress towards educational requirements as supported by MAP and Head Start Performance Standards. Supervise center staff in the absence of the Center Administrator. Monitor the use of supplies, equipment, and materials to ensure sufficient operating levels are available at all times; report waste and abuse to the Center Administrator immediately; prepare and submit requests for replenishment as needed in accordance with established RFS procedures. Monitor all classrooms daily to observe staff: child interactions and to assure the staff: child ratio is being maintained. Responsible for monthly safety checks, fire drills, safety meetings, and updating the safety log. Perform other duties as requested by the Center Administrator. Ensures all staff working with children also complete active supervision training and follow active supervision policies and procedures at all times. Knowledge/Skills/Experience and Other Requirements Associate’s Degree or above in Early Childhood Education, Human Services, or an equivalent combination. Working knowledge of Head Start Program Performance Standards, Child Care regulatory environment, child development, social service programs, or related areas in a non-profit organization. Demonstrated experience in administration and supervision, office management, case management, or related areas. Ability to prioritize, organize, problem-solve, and effectively handle multiple tasks. Proficiency in computer software applications relevant to office administration. Occasional lifting of 50 lbs. Some kneeling, stooping, bending, and extended periods of sitting throughout the day. Ability to travel, sometimes overnight, and with short notice.
