Job Description

Assistant Director Partners In Learning Child Development Center 519 Best Street, Salisbury, NC 28144 At Partners In Learning, we are a mission-driven nonprofit committed to providing inclusive, high-quality early care and education that supports the whole family. We are looking for a committed, experienced, and team-oriented Assistant Director to help lead our early learning program and further our mission of partnering with families and communities to support every child’s growth through education, intervention, and family support services.

Responsibilities:

Partner with the Director to provide leadership and direction, ensuring a nurturing, enriching, and inclusive environment for children, families, and staff. Build and maintain strong, positive relationships with families by fostering open, empathetic, and consistent communication about student progress, school events, and concerns as they arise. Provide classroom support and coverage as needed to maintain high-quality care and learning environments. Assist in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of a developmentally appropriate curriculum that supports educational benchmarks and promotes individualized cognitive, social, and emotional growth. Support educators and families in responding to challenging student behaviors by offering guidance, strategies, and access to appropriate resources and interventions. Conduct regular classroom observations to assess both individual and group needs, identifying areas for support and professional development. Supervise and coordinate the planning and execution of field trips and center-wide events, ensuring alignment with organizational policies and the creation of enriching experiences for all children. Collaborate with the Director to develop meeting agendas and facilitate faculty and team meetings that encourage communication, collaboration, and ongoing professional learning. Serve as acting Director in the Director’s absence, providing steady leadership and ensuring smooth daily operations. At least two years of early childhood education experience required, with an understanding of developmentally appropriate practices and the ability to ensure its use in the classroom Possess strong leadership skills to effectively problem-solve, guide, and coach staff Bachelor’s degree in ECE or related field highly preferred. Strong knowledge of state licensing rules and regulations. Excellent administrative, organizational, verbal, listening, and communication skills required CPR and First Aid Certification or willingness to obtain As the Assistant Director, you will play a key leadership role in the daily operations of the early learning center, working closely with the Director, leadership team, and educators to ensure a safe, nurturing, and enriching environment for children. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in education administration and demonstrate exceptional leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
