POSITION SUMMARY
The Director will oversee the daily operations and management of the preschool. This position involves planning, guiding, and coordinating both academic and non-academic programs to ensure a nurturing and effective learning environment. The Director will collaborate with staff and parents to discuss educational strategies, policies, and address any behavioral or learning concerns of students. Additionally, the Director will promote and uphold the Lutheran principles and theology that serve as the foundation of the preschool’s curriculum and community.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop curriculum for each class and collaborate with teaching staff to determine how curriculum will be implemented.
- Plan and organize educational activities to correspond with the curriculum.
- Oversee monitoring student progress.
- Provide students and teachers with assistance in resolving any problems.
- Set educational standards and goals and help establish policies, procedures, and programs.
- Recruit, hire, and train.
- Evaluate staff performance.
- Supervise, lead and support teaching and administrative staff.
- Maintain a safe and healthy environment at all times.
- Develop allocations of funds for staff, supplies, materials, and equipment.
- Authorize purchases and manage the budget.
- Have a working relationship with families.
- Attend Board of Education monthly meetings.
- Attend school functions after hours.
- Develop fundraising opportunities.
- Ensure the preschool is in compliance with state requirements at all times.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Education.
- Experience in early development education required – preferred experience working in a preschool.
- Experience with special needs children is a plus.
- Ability to create curriculum for all ages served at the school.
- Must possess, maintain and renew CPR for the Professional Rescuer, EPI, Asthma and First Aid within 90 days of hire.
- Creativity, initiative, flexibility and strong communication skills are essential.
- Strong interpersonal skills: ability to interact and communicate effectively with parents, children, staff, church members and state personnel
- Must have the stamina and physical flexibility (walking, sitting, standing, bending, crouching, kneeling, pushing, pulling, running, stretching, reaching, climbing, lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds) to participate in children’s activities and communicate with children face to face.
- Must be able to accompany children up and down stairs in order to supervise activities such as outdoor play and fire drills.
- Love and understanding of children.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, Google Drive, ability to learn Procare Child Care Management software.
- Salary commensurate with experience.
