Starting at $65,000, depending on experience, no benefits or pension Summary Cranbury Presbyterian Nursery School, CPNS, is a well-established nursery school with a proud 40-year history of serving families in the community. CPNS is an integral part of the First Presbyterian Church of Cranbury. We are dedicated to providing a nurturing, play-based learning environment that supports the social, emotional, and academic development of young children. Our program focuses on building strong foundations for lifelong learning in a safe and caring setting. Our school welcomes families of all faiths.
Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Preschool Director to lead and grow our school into its next chapter. The ideal candidate will be a skilled and compassionate leader with a vision for high-quality early childhood education, a talent for staff development, and the organizational ability to manage and enhance daily operations. This is a wonderful opportunity for the right candidate to lead a respected school with deep community roots. Essential Functions Oversee the daily operations of the school and ensure a positive, enriching learning environment to grow the school Hire, train, and evaluate teaching and support staff Implement age-appropriate curriculum that meets educational and developmental standards in a play-based environment. Ongoing leadership and communication with the Church Session, CPNS Board, and families. Be available two nights per month for meetings. Maintain compliance with all local and state licensing regulations Manage enrollment, budgets, and administrative duties Build strong relationships with families, staff, and the wider community Lead marketing and outreach efforts to support school growth Manage licensure renewals, portals, and communication with the NJ Office of Licensing, the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), and Grow NJ Kids. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field, with experience Early Childhood or Elementary Teaching Experience of at least 3-5 years. Knowledge of preschool developmental milestones. Strong knowledge of best practices in Early Childhood/Elementary Education. Educational leadership experience preferred. Knowledge of Office of Licensing requirements and state curriculum requirements is a plus. Excellent Communicator Strong leadership skills and knowledge of Best Practices in Educational Leadership Experience conducting meaningful professional development training and staff meetings. Ability to carry out the position’s duties, both physically and mentally. Ensures the Child Protection Policy is followed, enforced, and updated as needed. Must agree to a background check.
Preferred Experience:
Experience leading an established early childhood program Knowledge of curriculum development and staff mentoring Familiarity with enrollment growth strategies and community outreach
