Full-Time Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Early Childhood Director to lead our UPK Center, ensuring a nurturing, enriching, and developmentally appropriate environment for both children and staff. The Director will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the program’s daily operations, including curriculum implementation, staff management, OCFS compliance, and the coordination of before and after-care services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure full compliance with OCFS (Office of Children and Family Services) regulations, including health, safety, and licensing requirements
- Oversee and support curriculum implementation, including: ○ Heggerty Phonemic Awareness ○ Fundations (Wilson Language Basics) ○ Play-based and developmentally appropriate learning experiences
- Supervise daily operations of the center, including: ○ Staff hiring, scheduling, training, supervision, and evaluation ○ Bi-weekly payroll management ○ Maintenance of classroom quality and center standards
- Manage and coordinate before and after care programs, ensuring engaging, safe, and well-staffed routines outside of core hours
- Attend monthly directors’ meetings and required professional development sessions
- Foster strong communication and relationships with staff and families
- Collaborate with district UPK partners (if applicable) to maintain quality and alignment with state expectations
Required Qualifications:
- New York State Early Childhood Certification (Birth-Grade 2) – Required
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or a closely related field
- Minimum 3-5 years of early childhood teaching experience, with 1-2 years in a leadership or supervisory role
- Deep knowledge of OCFS regulations, early childhood development, and curriculum implementation
- Experience with Heggerty, Fundations, and play-based educational models
- Proven ability to manage before/after care programming, staff teams, and center-level operations
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- CPR/First Aid Certification (or willingness to obtain)
Schedule:
Full-Time, Monday-Friday Evening or weekend availability as needed for events or trainings
Salary:
$60,000- $65,000
