General Description:
Responsible for the overall operation of the Center including on-going daily administration and supervision of the program, staff, curriculum, and services in accordance with the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) rules and regulations, and policies of the Center.
Qualifications:
The minimum requirements include a B.A. in Early Childhood Education or related field with at least 1 years of teaching experience and 1 years supervisory experience. The preferred candidate will have a minimum of 3 years teaching experience and 3 years supervisory experience. All candidates must meet qualifications set out by OCFS licensing regulation 418-1.13. Duties include but are not limited to:
Program Administration :
The Director is responsible for creating a developmentally appropriate environment that is warm, nurturing, and meets the emotional, physical, intellectual, and social needs of the children enrolled. The Director will report to the CEO any perceived inadequacies in the program and of any new regulations or licensing requirements that impact the Center programs. The Director will work with the Center’s Quality Improvement Specialist from QUALITYstarsNY to implement the highest quality programming.
Operations Administration:
The Director is responsible for administrative functions associated with the quality and continued licensure of the Center, as well as any reporting procedures required by OCFS.
Parent and Community Relations:
The Director maintains an environment where parents feel well informed and welcomed as observers and contributors to the Center programs. The Director communicates effectively and professionally with community members and organizations, including but not limited to Shenendehowa Central School District, Brightside Up, Saratoga County, Albany County, and Rensselaer County.
Fiscal Management:
The Director is responsible for ensuring that fiscal policies and procedures established by the CEO are carried out. The Director will oversee management of County subsidy payments, CACFP payments, school district payments, and tuition payments.
Personnel Management:
The Director retains the overall responsibility for staff recruitment, orientation, development, evaluations, and discipline. The Director may delegate specific tasks to Assistant Directors but is ultimately responsible to ensure that Center policies and procedures related to personnel management are carried out.
Skills:
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Demonstrated skills as a supervisor; ability to oversee staff and build consensus among peer professional Extensive knowledge of NYS child care regulations
- Ability to manage many competing priorities
- Excellent problem solving and conflict resolution skills
- Knowledge of budget development and fiscal management
- Computer skills (Google Workspace)
