Must provide service, in home, childcare center or community settings! Job Overview This pivotal position is at the heart of promoting the developmental progress of young children experiencing delays or disabilities. Early intervention specialists play a crucial role in identifying the specific needs of infants and toddlers, collaborating with families, healthcare providers, and educators to create and implement individualized intervention plans. By addressing developmental challenges during a child’s formative years, lay the groundwork for improved long-term outcomes in health, education, and overall well-being. Early Intervention Specialist Responsibilities & Duties Conduct developmental assessments and evaluations to identify areas of delay or concern “MDE’s” Develop and implement individualized intervention plans based on assessment results Collaborate with families to provide education, support, and resources Work with other professionals such as speech therapists, occupational therapists, and pediatricians Monitor and document children’s progress toward developmental goals Adjust intervention strategies as needed based on ongoing assessments Facilitate and participate in multidisciplinary team meetings Provide training and support to caregivers and family members Advocate for the needs of children and families within the community Stay current with best practices and research in early childhood intervention Early Intervention Specialist Qualifications & Skills Master’s degree in early childhood education, special education, or a related field Certification or licensure in early childhood intervention Experience working with children with developmental delays or disabilities Knowledge of early childhood development and intervention strategies Strong communication and collaboration skills Ability to work effectively with diverse families and communities Proficiency in using assessment tools and software Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, special education, or a related field 1 year of full-time working directly with preschool children with disabilities and their families Experience in early childhood education or related field Strong observational and assessment skills Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Ability to develop and implement individualized intervention plans Commitment to ongoing professional development Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations governing early intervention services understanding and skills needed to perform the functions specified in {4226.54(relating to early interventionist responsibilities). must not be excluded from enrolling in Pennsylvania’s Promise System original child abuse clearance, criminal state clearance, and FBI clearance approving the individual for work with children.
