The ideal candidate will have a passion for nurturing and educating young children, ensuring their safety and well-being while fostering their development. This role involves creating a positive and engaging environment for children, promoting social, emotional, and cognitive growth through various activities. Responsibilities Ensure the center adheres to all Tennessee Department of Human Services (DHS) licensing requirements, including maintaining appropriate staff-to-child ratios and group sizes as stipulated in state regulations. Develop and implement center policies and procedures that align with DHS regulations and best practices in early childhood education . Ensure compliance with safety regulations and emergency procedures. Maintain accurate records for staff and children, including attendance, health records, and incident reports, ensuring readiness for inspections and audits . Recruit, hire, and supervise qualified staff, conducting regular performance evaluations and providing ongoing professional development opportunities . Organize and facilitate staff training sessions to ensure compliance with licensing regulations and to promote best practices in child care . Develop and manage staff schedules to maintain required ratios and ensure adequate coverage at all times. Design and implement developmentally appropriate curricula that meet the educational and developmental needs of children . Regularly assess program effectiveness and make necessary adjustments to improve quality and outcomes . Coordinate supplemental activities and external learning opportunities to enhance the educational experience . Monitor children’s behavior and provide guidance to encourage positive interactions. Maintain open and regular communication with parents, providing updates on their child’s progress and center activities . Organize and document parent meetings, conferences, and educational sessions to foster family engagement . Build and maintain relationships with community partners, representing the center at events and collaborating on initiatives . Develop and manage the center’s budget, overseeing expenditures and ensuring financial sustainability . Oversee the enrollment process, maintaining optimal occupancy levels and managing waitlists as necessary . Ensure the center’s facilities are safe, clean, and well-maintained, addressing any issues promptly . Administer first aid when necessary, maintaining a calm demeanor in emergencies. Skills Must have strong leadership and management experience in a professional childcare and academic setting. Must be passionate in providing nurturing, educational environments for children. Proven experience in nannying or caregiving roles, particularly with infants and toddlers. Knowledge of childhood development principles to support age-appropriate learning. Progressive education experience is preferred. Ability to work with children with disabilities, providing inclusive care. Familiarity with preschool curricula and educational activities. Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with children, parents, and staff. Certification in first aid and CPR is highly desirable.
