FLSA STATUS
Exempt Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development. Teacher certification is required. Must be at least 21 years of age or older. Experience preferred, but not required.

Required Skills and Abilities:

1. Extensive know/ledge of early childhood education including all domains of learning and development 2. Familiar with current research of early childhood education and understands how research can be translated into classroom instruction 3. Ability to individualize using assessment data to drive instruction 4. Proficient with Google Drive 5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills 6. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail 7. Ability to prioritize tasks 8. Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment

1. Determines individual and class needs. 2. Supervises students in educational settings. 3. Established objectives and develops and implements a program of instruction that meets the individual needs and abilities of students. 4. Develops instructional activities that are consistent with local and state course of study and curriculum guides. 5. Implements activities using a variety of techniques that utilize instructional time to meet objectives. 6. Assesses students’ abilities as related to desired educational goals, objectives and student outcomes and maintains appropriate evaluation documentation. 7. Communicates to students and parents/guardian either in writing or verbally) instructional expectations, student progress or lack or progress. 8. Assists in the documentation of student progress by efficiently maintaining and submitting appropriate records and reports. 9. Participates as needed in IEP meetings for IDEA students. 10. Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to achieve afunctional learning atmosphere in the classroom and in other areas of the school. 11. Actively participates in and works with other school personnel in selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials and participates in the planning of effective instructional goals, objectives, methods, and curriculum. 12. Exhibits positive human relation skills. 13. Demonstrates proficiency in written and oral communication. 14. Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local board policy, and state and federal rules and regulations. 15. Engages in personal professional growth and demonstrates professional ethics and leadership. 16. Maintains proper certification by attending college, workshops and professional development courses. 17. Attend in-service workshops, trainings, meetings, etc. as required. Must attend a minimum of 15 hours of OSR sponsored training each year plus 15 additional hours of training offered by local or regional programs for a total of 30 hours. Attendance at the OSR sponsored PreK conference is mandatory. 18. Required to participate in EDUCATE Alabama. 19. Required to document all local and OSR training attendance in Power School and keep training certificates on site for verification of attendance. 20. Demonstrates a high degree of professionalism and ethics, working cooperatively with the Board, Superintendent, administrators, certified and non-certified personnel, parents, and students. 21. Attends all faculty meetings, PTA meetings, and other meetings as required by the Superintendent. Performs co-curricular and extra-curricular activities and other school related duties (Hall, lunchroom, playground, drop-off and pick-up, etc,) as assigned by the Superintendent. 22. Other job duties as required by the Principal or Children’s Services Classroom Support/OSR Coach or Mentor.

Background Check Required:

(Ala. Code §§ 16-22A-5) Upon offer of employment, employees will be required to submit legible fingerprints for a background review by the Alabama Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk and use hands to finger, to handle, or feel objects, equipment, or controls. The employee frequently is required to talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, bend, stoop, squat, crouch, and kneel. The employee must occasionally lift, push, pull, carry and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include near vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
