Job Description

Early Childhood Teacher – Infant Classroom Highlands Child Development Center 1045 20th Street South, Birmingham, AL 35205 Job description We are seeking a nurturing and experienced Infant Teacher to join our team and provide exceptional care and early education to infants aged between 8 weeks and 14 months. The ideal candidate will create a safe, stimulating, and loving environment where infants can grow and develop to their fullest potential. The Infant teacher provides guidance to their co-teachers; oversees related learning activities; supervises and teaches students; ensures compliance with program requirements; builds a team atmosphere with their co-teachers and other staff members; and coordinates communications with parents.

Key Responsibilities:

The Teacher is responsible for working in a team atmosphere with the Co-Teachers, Administers, and other program staff to provide children with a safe and healthy learning environment. The teacher provides guidance and organizes classroom duties. The teacher will provide guidance when planning for children’s physical and intellectual growth, supporting social and emotional development, providing positive guidance and discipline, establishing positive relationships with families and encouraging their involvement in the education of their children, ensuring a well-run purposeful program responsive to participant’s needs and maintaining a commitment to professionalism. The teacher is responsible for developing lesson plans for both the class as a whole and individual children and for classroom management purposes. The teacher is responsible for ensuring classroom documentation including lesson plans (Creative Curriculum), assessments (Teaching Strategies Gold and Brigance), and parent communication (Daily Reports and Parent Teacher Conference forms) are submitted in a timely manner. Attend and participate mandatory training related to DHR Minimum Standards, NAEYC Accreditation, and Developmentally Appropriate Practices. Teaching teams are required to maintain and uphold DHR Minimum Standards, NAEYC Accreditation standards, ensure Developmentally Appropriate Practices for teach and learning, and adhere to all center policies and guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications:

AA in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or closely related field with a concentration (18 hrs.) in early childhood from an accredited college or university. Experience required working in an infant toddler environment. Successful completion of background and Child Abuse and Neglect screening.
