PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Assumes responsibility for organizing the classroom to provide an effective teaching / learning climate. Understands and implements policies, rules and regulations of the local school and the City of Leeds Board of Education. Develops reasonable rules of school and/or classroom behavior and procedures. Shares responsibility for maintaining appropriate discipline and order throughout the school building and grounds. Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for non-professional staff and volunteers. Outlines for substitute teachers a comprehensive schedule, complete with activities. Evaluates cooperatively, with principals or team leaders, and evaluate the job performance of assigned substitute teachers, non-professional staff, and volunteers. Operates as a team member of the local school staff. Attends staff meetings and serves on committees as required. Assists in scheduling of students as required by the principal. Utilizes available planning time effectively. Assists in planning and supervising extracurricular activities as requested. Establishes and maintains physical conditions conductive to good health and safety. Ensures that students are properly supervised. Performs responsibilities as assigned by the principal. Complies with federal, state, and local by-laws and policies relating to respective programs (i.e., special education, etc.). Provides student statistical data as required. Evaluates and reports student progress. Administers standardized tests and provides information regarding students as required. Keeps accurate, up-to-date all continuous student records. Prepares and submits an instructional budget request as required. Collects and accounts for monies as required by the principal. Inventories textbooks, equipment, etc., as required. Maintains other files and records as required by the principal. Plans and implements a program of professional self-development. Accepts responsibility in developing and participating in school and system in-service programs. Provides needed assistance for new, intern, and student teachers. Shares with colleagues’ information leading to their professional growth. Works cooperatively with other teachers, students, and staff members to promote student growth. Assumes responsibility for active membership in professional association(s). Follow the Alabama Course of Study in each discipline and uses the text books prescribed by the City of Leeds Board of Education. Creates and maintains a classroom climate conducive to learning. Demonstrates skill in the use of instructional procedures and resources. Develops individual teachers’ performance objectives and works to achieve them. Establishes student performance objectives on a learning continuum. Develops and implements a plan of assessing individual students’ needs. Employs instructional methods and materials designed to achieve stated objectives. Submits copies of long- and short- range plans to the principal as requested. Enhances the classroom environment with attractive bulletin boards or other displays correlated with the subject or unit being taught. Maintains with students continuous evaluation of classroom goals and objectives. Utilizes services of specialists needed as afforded by the school, City of Leeds Board of Education, or outside agencies, and approved by the principal. Uses the community as an extension of the classroom to broaden the learning environment. Stimulates in students by example and encouragement, good housekeeping habits, and respect of school facilities. Reports needed maintenance to the principal. Cooperates in proper care and storage of equipment and materials. Works cooperatively with PTA/PTO and other school and community organizations. Attends, when possible, PTA/PTO meetings and other school/community functions. Communicates effectively with school patrons and the general public. Projects a positive self-image, school, and school-system image to patrons and public. Performs all assigned duties regularly and promptly. Treats information regarding students and all school system personnel in a professional manner. Cooperates with other faculty members to utilize school facilities, materials, and equipment for maximum benefit to all students. Implements the professional code of ethics. Assumes responsibility to perform any work which is assigned by the Superintendent of Schools and/or his representative, including the immediate supervisor.
