Full Job Description Position Summary:

Childcare Providers are responsible for the safe and purposeful care of children from birth through preschool and for providing a welcoming and nurturing environment for children and families during Sunday morning worship services and scheduled special events at Trinity United Methodist Church.

Primary Responsibilities:

Provide a Christian environment for children through play, interaction, education, and care. Ensure the physical safety and wellbeing of all children in care. Ensure children are signed in and out by an authorized adult through the designated documentation method. Ensure special needs and allergies for each child are noted and addressed with care. Engage children with provided curriculum and/or with materials provided in the room during the entire time children are present. Follow all Safe Sanctuary guidelines, with special emphasis on ratios, diapering, restroom safety, use of cell phones, food safety, and photography guidelines. Maintain supplies and classrooms in a neat, organized, and orderly manner. Clean classrooms during and following use, as needed. Follow all health and safety protocols, as directed, such as wearing masks, using gloves, etc.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Previous childcare experience, preferred.
• Joy-filled passion for working with children.
• Ability to provide a friendly, inviting, and welcoming environment that establishes trust in the care provided.
• Ability to work in partnership with other staff and volunteers.
• Relational and communication skills necessary for interacting with children, parents, staff, and church members.

Participate in all trainings required by the Employee Policy Manual (e.g. Safe Sanctuary).

• Ability to arrange and organize children’s rooms and materials, participate directly in children’s games and activities, get up and down off the floor with ease, and lift children age 5 and under.
• Ability to see and hear in normal ranges with or without correction.
• Ability to lift/carry up to approximately 50 pounds occasionally.

Ability to pass a background check screening.

Work Schedule:

Hours vary per week, to regularly include 3-4 hours on Sunday mornings. Opportunities are also available for Sunday evenings and throughout the week for various meetings and special events.
