7125 Hitt Rd, Mobile, AL Macy’s Learning Pod is a nontraditional preschool alternative created for families who want a calmer, more intentional environment for their children. Our micro-pod model welcomes only 10 children (ages 4-5) across two classrooms, offering a low adult-to-child ratio and a warm, connected atmosphere. We’re currently hiring a Preschool Instructor to join our summer pod from June 9 through August 29, 2025 . This is a temporary contractor position , perfect for someone who values hands-on learning, relationship-based teaching, and meaningful engagement with children. About Macy’s Learning Pod Looking for flexible care without the full-time commitment of traditional preschool? Macy’s Learning Pod was designed with intention—offering a few calm hours per week for children to explore, play, and grow without the overstimulation of large centers. Housed in a community building on church grounds, our program is nonsectarian and open to families of all backgrounds.

A low-ratio environment (1 adult per 5 children) A part-time schedule that supports family and work rhythms Opportunities for parents to stay involved and connected A focus on connection, play, and child-led learning Care that’s both thoughtful and affordable Ideal for families seeking: A gentle bridge before kindergarten A break from large, overstimulating environments A community where their child is seen, known, and supported A few hours each week to focus, rest, or reset Position Responsibilities Create and guide hands-on, age-appropriate activities using the HighScope curriculum Facilitate both small and large group learning experiences Foster a calm, respectful, and joyful environment centered around play and exploration Follow the child’s lead, supporting curiosity and creativity through responsive teaching Maintain a clean, safe classroom environment and assist with setup and cleanup as needed Communicate respectfully with families and collaborate with other staff or contractors Qualifications CDA or associate degree in early childhood education (or a related field) At least 1 year of experience working with preschool-aged children Familiarity with the HighScope approach (or willingness to learn) Nurturing, positive demeanor with a calm and engaging teaching style Able to work independently and confidently in a small, flexible setting Must be reliable and available for all scheduled days during the summer session Schedule & Pay Program runs: June 9•August 29, 2025 Class days:

PM Pay:

$16.50•17.50/hour, based on qualifications

Type:

Independent contractor (must handle own taxes) Weekly instructional needs may vary. Final work schedule will be selected collaboratively, based on program enrollment and staff availability. Macy’s Learning Pod reserves the right to adjust or shorten the overall program schedule as needed.
