(PRIMARY) Qualifications Valid Alabama certificate endorsed in appropriate area Meet Highly Qualified Standards as defined by the State of Alabama Knowledge of child development and especially of characteristics of students in the age group assigned Knowledge of the state and national curriculum standards Knowledge of current educational research Basic understanding and knowledge of current technology Knowledge of learning styles and skill in using varied teaching methods to address student learning styles Proficient and professional in oral and written communication with students, parents and others Ability to plan and implement activities for maximum effectiveness Ability to assess levels of student achievement effectively, analyze test results and prescribe actions for improvement Ability to maintain appropriate student supervision so that students have a safe and orderly environment in which to learn Clear understanding of the state course(s) of study Ability to implement and stay abreast of current and future classroom strategies Strong interpersonal skills Directs elementary students in musical events and all details related to successful presentations Introduces young students to simple music concepts, such as beat, rhythm and pitch, as well as teaching students how to read musical notes and symbols Integrate music with other academic subjects, such as social studies and language arts Establishes and maintains standard of student behavior to achieve a functional learning atmosphere Exhibits positive human relations skills Adheres to system rules, administrative procedures, local board policy, and state Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the system Responsibilities

N/A To provide music instruction for students and to create performance opportunities for all students Determines individual and class musical needs Establishes objectives and plans musical learning experiences which are age appropriate according to the state course(s) of study Implements musical goals and activities using a variety of techniques that utilize instructional time to meet objectives and program goals Provide basic vocal and instrumental instruction within a classroom setting and expose children to a wide variety of musical styles and performers Engages in personal professional growth and demonstrates professional ethics Perform related duties as assigned

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

187 Days Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the system’s approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the system.

EVALUATION

Evaluation of job performance will be conducted in accordance with the current requirements of the State Department of Education.
