$47.3K – $58.7K a year 1 day ago Qualifications CPR Certification Computer literacy Teaching Certification Early childhood education English Mid-level 3 years Bachelor’s degree Organizational skills Computer skills Early Childhood Education Full Job Description Summary Head Teacher is responsible for developing a cohesive teaching team, coordinating the curriculum, and managing the day-to-day operational activities of the classroom. Oversee and provide positive guidance to assistant teachers and floaters. Use and model positive discipline techniques to ensure a safe and healthy environment. Individualize curriculum and daily routines/ implement IEP goals to meet individual needs of children. Ensure active supervision at all times. Maintain a positive emotional attitude with children, families and other staff. Mentor teaching staff. Work to build positive relationships among peers/families. Duties Meet physical, social-emotional and cognitive needs of all children in the classroom. Maintain the classroom in an organized, clean and appealing fashion. Communicate with families and other teachers daily and document children’s daily progress. Conduct weekly meetings with teachers for the purposes of curriculum planning, student observations, and fostering healthy communication between teachers. Supervise assistant teachers, parents/guardians and volunteers in the class. Participate in ongoing evaluation of children through daily observations, collecting weekly work samples and written assessments. Provide ongoing evaluation as needed to assess the developmental levels of the children. Engage in internal referral process to help support children individual development needs. Adhere to all state and federal requirements / standards (OEC, NAEYC.) Attend and actively participate in staff trainings, meetings and agency events. Requirements Head Teacher Certification and/ or Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. 12 credits in
ECE. CPR
certified or ability to complete training. Ability to communicate fluently in written and spoken English. Excellent organizational skills. Computer literacy. 3 to 5 years of Early Childhood Education experience. Ability to lift and carry 40 lbs. Ability to bend, sit on the floor for prolonged periods and get up again is required.
