Assistant Preschool Director Methodist Family Center Preschool 345 Middlesex Rd, Darien, CT 06820 Assistant Director Job Description Summary of Job Description The MFCP Assistant Director works directly with the Executive Director and is responsible for ensuring a safe environment as well as assisting in maintaining the records of the children, employees, policies, and procedures. The Assistant Director must be organized, personable, skilled with computer systems, detail oriented, be able work with deadlines and be comfortable with multi-tasking. The Assistant Director reports directly to the Executive Director. Compliance Responsible for performing the following:
- Work with Executive Director to maintain and have access to all children’s records and files: Review, update, and coordinate the files according to State of Connecticut requirements.
- Work with Executive Director to maintain and have access to employee records and files: Review, update, and coordinate the files according to State of Connecticut requirements.
- Knowledge of and implementation of the following related policy materials: 1.
Methodist Family Center Preschool Staff and Family Handbook 2. The State of Connecticut Office of Early Childhood Statutes and Regulations 3. The CT Early Learning Development Standards and
CT DOTS 4.

- Assist the Executive Director in organizing all appropriate materials and documentation for Local, State, and National agencies in their monitoring and evaluation of Methodist Family Center Preschool in a professional, accurate and timely manner
- Report to Executive Director daily, all happenings, occurrences and circumstances of school immediately Safety and Hygiene Responsible for performing the following:
- Will complete 8 hours of training annually in early childhood education o EPI-Pen, First Aid, and CPR training must be current
- Assist Executive Director in implementing monthly emergency drills Personal Development Responsible for performing the following:
- Obtained OR working on obtaining a minimum of an Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or related field Professionalism Responsible for performing the following:
- Positive attitude with parents, children and all employees
- Striving for a win-win outcome for all, when possible Office Administration Responsible for performing the following:
- External and internal correspondence
- Work with Executive Director to maintain enrollment of all children in program and keeping enrollment full through contacting families who are on wait list
- Assist in ordering supplies in a timely manner
- Assist in answering phone calls (assign employee to answer phones when not available)
- Assist in Playground App management Classroom Administration Responsible for performing the following:
- Substituting for employees during breaks, lunches, employee days off from work
- Check weekly that classes are maintaining a clean environment Parent Interactions Responsible for performing the following:
- Will serve as primary parent contact for program when Executive Director is not available
- Respond to all inquires in a timely manner
- Notices/Announcements to Parents People Management Responsible for performing the following:
- New staff orientation (using orientation documents and check-off lists) when Director is not available.
- Substitution of Employees
- Assist Director in conflict resolution, employee evaluations, and observations
- Positive collaboration with teaching staff Event Management Responsible for performing the following:
- Helping plan, execute, and market school events Curriculum Responsible for performing the following:
- Familiar and knowledgeable of the CT ELDS and DOTS
- Check classrooms to ensure that weekly activities are completed and displayed
- Check that literature is available in the classroom that reflects the theme and is age appropriate
- Review curriculum and ensure it is posted each week

Part-time Pay:
$35,000.00 per year Expected hours: 15 – 20 per week
