This essential role supports a mixed-age classroom (ages 3-5) of both typically developing children and children with exceptional needs. The ideal candidate is VPK certified, has a strong foundation in early childhood special education, and is confident in managing a diverse group of learners with varying abilities and behavioral needs. This teacher will be instrumental in creating a structured, inclusive, and nurturing environment that fosters growth across all developmental domains. Duties Serve as the lead educator in a blended ESE preschool classroom, providing instruction to children with and without disabilities. Develop and implement individualized and developmentally appropriate lesson plans that align with Florida Early Learning and VPK standards. Collaborate with support staff, therapists, and families to create and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and behavior strategies. Use positive behavior support and classroom management techniques to maintain a calm and engaging learning environment. Monitor, document, and report on student progress through observations, assessments, and data collection aligned with state and center standards. Differentiate instruction to meet the varied needs of learners, incorporating visual supports, sensory tools, and adaptive methods when necessary. Communicate consistently and professionally with families regarding academic, behavioral, and developmental progress. Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements for VPK and ESE programs. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, parent conferences, and ongoing professional development. Supervise and mentor assistant teachers or aides assigned to the classroom. Requirements • Florida VPK Instructor Certification required. Degree in Early Childhood Education , Exceptional Student Education (ESE) , or a related field preferred (but not required). Minimum of 1-2 years experience teaching in an inclusive or special needs preschool setting. Strong knowledge of child development, early intervention strategies, and behavior management best practices. Experience supporting children with autism, developmental delays, or behavioral challenges in a classroom setting. Familiarity with IEPs , progress monitoring tools, and collaboration with service providers (e.g., speech, OT, PT). Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills. CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
