Position Summary A teacher at The Source Christian Academy is a Christ-centered educator called to teach, disciple, and nurture 2, 3, and 4-year-old students in both heart and mind. This role involves planning and implementing developmentally appropriate, biblically-rooted instruction using the Abeka curriculum. The teacher will model Christ-like character, build meaningful relationships with students and families, and contribute to a safe and loving classroom environment. Key ResponsibilitiesClassroom Instruction & Learning Environment Teach 2, 3, and 4-year-old students using biblically-integrated, multi-sensory lesson plans tailored to developmental needs. Use a classical education approach alongside the Abeka curriculum to promote both academic and spiritual growth. Follow a structured daily schedule that includes learning, play, rest, and relationship-building and adjusting as needed to meet the developmental pace of younger students. Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting classroom. Post weekly lesson plans in the classroom and submit them to school leadership every Friday. Student Development & Assessment Monitor, support, and assess each child’s academic, emotional, and spiritual development. Use positive guidance and redirection to support healthy behavior and character formation. Ensure constant supervision of students especially for younger children who require close, hands-on care and direction. Support gross motor development through structured play and active outdoor engagement. Assist with snack time, lunch, toileting, diapering (for 2-year-olds), and nap time, maintaining hygiene for all children. Parent Communication & Support Build strong relationships with families—know their name, know their story, and help find their next step. Communicate weekly with parents through newsletters and informal updates. Address concerns promptly, lovingly, and in partnership with parents. Lead scheduled parent conferences to review student progress. Maintain confidentiality and integrity in all communication and interactions with families. Team Collaboration & Professional Contribution Work in unity with co-teachers, classroom assistants, and the Preschool Director to provide consistent care. Partner with your classroom assistant to ensure smooth daily operations and shared leadership. Communicate clearly with the Preschool Director regarding any behavioral, safety, or developmental concerns. Participate in staff meetings, special school events, open houses, and required trainings. Qualifications A deep, growing relationship with Jesus Christ and a passion for discipling young children. Commitment to the mission and vision of The Source Christian Academy and agreement with its statement of faith. A minimum of 3 years of relevant early childhood teaching experience (preferred). Staff Credential and VPK coursework through the Department of Children and Families (required). Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field (preferred). Valid Florida State Teaching Certificate or willingness to pursue certification. CPR and First Aid certified or willing to complete upon hire. Experience working with toddlers and an understanding of early developmental stages and needs. Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications.
