Students deepen their love of God and others through the pursuit of all that is true, good, and beautiful. The Catholic school assistant principal serves not only as the educational leader but also as the spiritual leader of the school. Emphasizing qualities of excellence, commitment, creativity and innovation in all school endeavors, the assistant principal guides a Christ-centered community committed to the development of the whole child. The assistant principal works collaboratively with the Principal, Pastor, and the Director of Catholic Education/Superintendent of Schools for the Diocese. Job Responsibilities Catholic Identity Model Catholic values in all interactions with faculty/staff, students, school families and the greater community. Actively foster and support Catholic beliefs, traditions and practices. Attend Catholic liturgical ceremonies. Promote Catholic school culture rooted in Catholic traditions and practices. Organization and Institutional Leadership Manage the school’s general operations in the principal’s absence. Assist the principal in implementing instructional, assessment, supervisory and disciplinary standards and monitoring progress towards school goals. Direct or coordinate school FCC Accreditation. Plan and coordinate orientations for new parents and students. Assist the principal in the planning of faculty/ staff meetings. Assist the principal in planning in-service programs for teachers and staff. Assist in planning the school calendar and class schedule. Assist in the maintenance of a safe and secure environment for students, faculty and staff. Supervision and Instructional Leadership Foster an environment and culture of rigorous academic standards and achievement for all students and faculty. Routinely observe and provide written and/or verbal feedback to faculty and staff in accordance with the diocesan guidelines for classroom observation. Assist with teacher evaluation process. Share responsibility for the supervision of students for assemblies, special events, and for out-of-school functions where administrative support is needed. Provide supervision in non-classroom areas such as hallways, restrooms, playground, etc. Student Services and Discipline Set high standards for student behavior that are based on Catholic values. Keep complete and accurate student disciplinary records. Conduct student and/or parent conferences related to discipline matters and keep accurate and complete notes. Demonstrate effective interpersonal relationships with students, faculty/staff and parents. Technology Coordinate schoolwide Apple iPad 1:1 program and managing devices Maintain relationship with third party technology consultants Coordinate classroom digital subscriptions Provide technology support daily to students, faculty and staff. Staff Development Assist in planning a professional development program relevant to the faculty’s needs and improves student learning. Assist in the orientation and mentoring of new faculty and staff. Attend meetings and participate in professional development programs offered by the Diocesan Department of Education. Ensure all faculty teaching licenses are up to date and assist with renewals. Communication Communicate and meet regularly with the principal on school related issues. Represent faculty and staff concerns to the principal. Display strong verbal and written communications skills. Use strong interpersonal skills to work with diverse groups of people and opinions. Requirements Master’s Degree or higher in Administration or related field Licensure in the State of Florida Prefer background/certification in Educational Leadership and/or Counseling. Prefer experience in working with discipline and counseling related issues. A practicing Catholic and committed disciple of Jesus Christ whose faith is an integral part of their life and worldview. Collaborative leader with an accessible and approachable style that demonstrates a willingness to listen to new ideas while offering creative solutions to challenges. Excellent communications skills both oral and written, including public speaking. Knowledge and understanding of financial, accounting and marketing functions. Ability to articulate an educational vision that incorporates the best aspects of Catholic Education.

Requirements:

Master’s Degree or higher in Administration or related field Licensure in the State of Florida Prefer background/certification in Educational Leadership and/or Counseling. Prefer experience in working with discipline and counseling related issues. A practicing Catholic and committed disciple of Jesus Christ whose faith is an integral part of their life and worldview. Collaborative leader with an accessible and approachable style that demonstrates a willingness to listen to new ideas while offering creative solutions to challenges. Excellent communications skills both oral and written, including public speaking. Knowledge and understanding of financial, accounting and marketing functions.
