PLANS, CONDUCTS AND SUPERVISES ACTIVITIES WITH A GROUP OF CHILDREN. THESE ACTIVITIES WILL BE IN INDOOR AND OUTDOOR SETTING AIMED AT PROMOTING, SOCIAL, EMOTIONAL, INTELLECTUAL AND PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT OF THE CHILDREN.
Educational duties include, but are not limited to the following: Direct interaction, supervision and evaluation of teacher assistant, substitutes, volunteers and assigned classroom children. Plans and implements educational activities to develop and refine the following skills for pre-school children: Social Emotional, Hygiene/Self Help, Gross Motor, Fine Motor, Kinesthetic and Language Development. Prepares daily lesson plans according to the requirements of the funding source. Teaching staff never use physical punishment such as shaking or hitting and do not engage in psychological abuse or coercion. Maintains a positive atmosphere in the classroom through use of soothing tone of voice and positive discipline strategies. Test the children at the time of enrollment to determine their individual abilities and needs. Provides individual prescriptive activities to develop individual abilities that meet the child’s needs. Responsible for maintaining classroom management and observing any injuries, illnesses, symptoms or unusual behavior of the children upon arrival and during the day following program activities. Responsible for communicating with team worker, parent and supervisor any information concerning the child’s reaction to developmental and prescriptive activities following implementing the activity. Designs educational materials to promote prescriptive teaching. Plans, interacts and provide direct supervision of outdoor activities to develop gross motor skills. Responsible for conducting educational activities of interest to children during transitional periods or unexpected waiting situations, such as waiting for lunch, field trips, rainy days etc. Promote and organize children’s performance skills for special events and parent meetings
