POSITIONSUMMARY

The Preschool Teacher position is a year-round keyposition at the Early Education Center. Preschool Teachers areresponsible for educating, supervising, and caring for the childrenat the EEC. The teacher will implement by instruction and actionthe center’s philosophy of education and instructional goals andobjectives. The preschool teacher provides effective instructionaltechniques for all students in the classroom. The curriculumphilosophy for our school encompasses play-based learning,supported with a thematic, web-design lesson planning process thatmeets the developmental domains and objectives set forth inCreative Curriculum and Teaching Strategies Gold.

WAGE:

The basehourly pay range below represents the low and high end of WinterPark Resorts hourly pay range for this position. Actual pay willvary and may be above or below the range based on various factorsincluding but not limited to experience, education, training,location, merit system, quantity or quality of production,responsibilities, and regular and/or necessary travel. The rangelisted is just one component of Winter Park Resorts totalcompensation package for employees. Other rewards may include manyregion-specific benefits.

ESSENTIALDUTIES:

Teachers have responsibilities and requirements, includingbut not limited to:

  • Implements by instruction and action thecenter’s philosophy of education and instructional goals andobjectives.
  • Provides effective instructional techniques for allstudents in the classroom.
  • To maintain safety and supervision ofall children.
  • To assure compliance of the policies and proceduresof the EEC, Winter Park Resort and the Rules and Regulations of theColorado Office of Early Childhood.
  • Encourages students to setand maintain standards of classroom behavior.
  • Plans a program ofstudy that meets the needs, interests, and abilities of thestudents.
  • Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for teacherassistants and, cooperatively with supervisor, evaluates their jobperformance.
  • Trains in Teaching Strategies Gold, and documentsobservations and inputs assessments for each child to meet thestate set checkpoints.
  • Trains and implements weekly theIncredible Years program to fidelity based on the Invest in Kidsstandards.
  • Assisting the Director/ Assistant Director in keepingaccurate attendance records for each child.
  • Maintain EEC in aclean, orderly, safe condition.
  • Maintain effective communicationwith parents and staff.
  • Attends staff meetings as required Wewould prefer that applicants meet education and experientialrequirements; however, training opportunities and funding areavailable.

Upon hire, teachers must register and complete classesin a Colorado statewide professional development informationsystem, as well as completion of 15 hours of Continuing Educationannually. All early childhood professionals must complete afingerprint and child protection background check for Colorado, andany other states they have resided in the last 5 years, as well asany other required classes or trainings pertinent to their job.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Education/Experience:

An

EARLYCHILDHOOD TEACHER

assigned responsibility for a single group ofchildren and working under the supervision of a director must be atleast 18 years of age and must meet at least one of the followingqualifications:

  • Child Development
  • Child Psychology
  • ElementaryEducation;
  • Early Childhood Special Education;
  • Family and HumanDevelopment;
  • Educational Leadership & Administration
  • FamilyStudies; or
  • Special Education A Bachelor’s, Master’s, orDoctorate degree from an accredited college or university with amajor area of study in any area other than those listed at Section7.702.45, A, 1, a, and an additional two (2) three (3
  • semestercredit hour courses in Early Child Education, with one (1) courseas the following:
  • Introduction to Early Childhood Professions;or,
  • Early Childhood Guidance Strategies for Children or has beenissued a Colorado Pyramid Model Training certificate of completion;or,
  • An Associate’s degree (60 semester credit hours) from anaccredited college or university in Early Childhood Education orChild Development, which must include at least two (2), three(3
  • semester credit hour courses in either:
  • Introduction to EarlyChildhood Professions; or,
  • Early Childhood Guidance Strategiesfor Children or has been issued a Colorado Pyramid Model Trainingcertificate of completion; or,
  • A current professional teachinglicense issued by the Colorado Department of Education with anEndorsement in the area of Elementary Education, Early ChildhoodEducation, Early Childhood Special Education, or Early ChildhoodSpecial Education Specialist; or,
  • A current Early ChildhoodProfessional Credential Level II or higher in Version 3.0 asdetermined by the Department; or,
  • A current certification as aChild Development Associate (CDA) in: Center Based, Preschool;Center-Based, Infant-Toddler; or Family Child Care; or otherDepartment-approved credential; or,
  • Completion of a course oftraining approved by the Department and published on theDepartment’s approval list; and nine (9) months (1,365 hours) ofverified experience in the care and supervision of four (4) or morechildren less than eight (8) years of age who are not related tothe individual; or,
  • Three (3) months (455 hours) of verifiedexperience in the care and supervision of four (4) or more childrenless than eight (8) years of age who are not related to theindividual; and the completion of eighteen (18) semester credithours from an accredited college or university in Early ChildhoodEducation, with one (1) course as:
  • Introduction to EarlyChildhood Professions; or, CODE

  • Early Childhood GuidanceStrategies for Children or has been issued a Colorado Pyramid
  • Model Training certificate of completion; or,
  • Twenty-one (21)months (3,185 hours) of verified experience in the care andsupervision of four (4) or more children less than eight (8) yearsof age who are not related to the individual. Satisfactoryexperience includes being a licensee of a Colorado Family ChildCare Home, a Teacher’s Aide or Teacher in a childcare center,preschool, or elementary school. In addition, the individual musteither:
  • Possess a current Early Childhood Professional CredentialLevel I or higher in Versions as determined by the Department; or
  • Complete two (2) three (3) semester credit hour courses from anaccredited college or university in Early Childhood Education with(1) course as either:
  • Introduction To Early Childhood Professionsor has been issued the Child Development Associate (CDA)Credential; Or, Early Childhood Guidance Strategies for Children orhas been issued a Colorado Pyramid Model Training certificate ofcompletion.
  • All course grades used for the Early ChildhoodTeacher requirements must be a “C” or better.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Whenauthorized, may drive a 15

  • passenger van with children and adultsto field trips and activities
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKINGCONDITIONS
  • Able to lift, carry, or otherwise move and position aminimum of 30 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Ability to work forextended periods of time sitting, bending, reaching, and speakingon a constant basis.
  • Talking and hearing occur continuously inthe process of communicating with children, co-teachers, directors,and parents.
  • Routine cleaning of surfaces and toys. Loadingdishwasher and washer, mopping the floors when needed.
  • Routinesanitizing and disinfecting with hazardous chemicals.
  • Ability towork for extended periods of time standing, walking, kneeling,pushing, and pulling on an occasional basis. Mountain Environment
  • Be prepared to take children outside in weather as cold as 5°.
  • Closed toed shoe are recommended due to varying ground surfaces.
  • You will be provided an outdoor uniform.
  • Supervising children inbusy, tourist environment.
Housekeeping:

Most work tasks areperformed indoors

  • temperature is moderate and controlled byenvironmental systems.
  • Talking and hearing occur continuously inthe process of communicating with children, parents, directors, andother employees.
  • Vision occurs continuously with the most commonvisual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.
  • Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessaryequipment and products.
