POSITION SUMMARY

The Preschool Teacher position is a year-round key position at theEarly Education Center. Preschool Teachers are responsible foreducating, supervising, and caring for the children at the EEC. Theteacher will implement by instruction and action the center’sphilosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives. Thepreschool teacher provides effective instructional techniques forall students in the classroom. The curriculum philosophy for ourschool encompasses play-based learning, supported with a thematic,web-design lesson planning process that meets the developmentaldomains and objectives set forth in Creative Curriculum andTeaching Strategies Gold.

WAGE:

The base hourly pay range belowrepresents the low and high end of Winter Park Resorts hourly payrange for this position. Actual pay will vary and may be above orbelow the range based on various factors including but not limitedto experience, education, training, location, merit system,quantity or quality of production, responsibilities, and regularand/or necessary travel. The range listed is just one component ofWinter Park Resorts total compensation package for employees. Otherrewards may include many region-specific benefits.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Teachers have responsibilitiesand requirements, including but not limited to: Implements byinstruction and action the center’s philosophy of education andinstructional goals and objectives. Provides effectiveinstructional techniques for all students in the classroom. Tomaintain safety and supervision of all children. To assurecompliance of the policies and procedures of the EEC, Winter ParkResort and the Rules and Regulations of the Colorado Office ofEarly Childhood. Encourages students to set and maintain standardsof classroom behavior. Plans a program of study that meets theneeds, interests, and abilities of the students. Plans andsupervises purposeful assignments for teacher assistants and,cooperatively with supervisor, evaluates their job performance.

Trains in Teaching Strategies Gold, and documents observations andinputs assessments for each child to meet the state setcheckpoints. Trains and implements weekly the Incredible Yearsprogram to fidelity based on the Invest in Kids standards.

Assisting the Director/ Assistant Director in keeping accurateattendance records for each child. Maintain EEC in a clean,orderly, safe condition. Maintain effective communication withparents and staff. Attends staff meetings as required We wouldprefer that applicants meet education and experientialrequirements; however, training opportunities and funding areavailable. Upon hire, teachers must register and complete classesin a Colorado statewide professional development informationsystem, as well as completion of 15 hours of Continuing Educationannually. All early childhood professionals must complete afingerprint and child protection background check for Colorado, andany other states they have resided in the last 5 years, as well asany other required classes or trainings pertinent to their job.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Education/Experience:

An

EARLYCHILDHOOD TEACHER

assigned responsibility for a single group ofchildren and working under the supervision of a director must be atleast 18 years of age and must meet at least one of the followingqualifications: Child Development Child Psychology ElementaryEducation; Early Childhood Special Education; Family and HumanDevelopment; Educational Leadership & Administration FamilyStudies; or Special Education A Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctoratedegree from an accredited college or university with a major areaof study in any area other than those listed at Section 7.702.45,A, 1, a, and an additional two (2) three (3)-semester credit hourcourses in Early Child Education, with one (1) course as thefollowing: Introduction to Early Childhood Professions; or, EarlyChildhood Guidance Strategies for Children or has been issued aColorado Pyramid Model Training certificate of completion; or, AnAssociate’s degree (60 semester credit hours) from an accreditedcollege or university in Early Childhood Education or ChildDevelopment, which must include at least two (2), three(3)-semester credit hour courses in either: Introduction to EarlyChildhood Professions; or, Early Childhood Guidance Strategies forChildren or has been issued a Colorado Pyramid Model Trainingcertificate of completion; or, A current professional teachinglicense issued by the Colorado Department of Education with anEndorsement in the area of Elementary Education, Early ChildhoodEducation, Early Childhood Special Education, or Early ChildhoodSpecial Education Specialist; or, A current Early ChildhoodProfessional Credential Level II or higher in Version 3.0 asdetermined by the Department; or, A current certification as aChild Development Associate (CDA) in: Center Based, Preschool;Center-Based, Infant-Toddler; or Family Child Care; or otherDepartment-approved credential; or, Completion of a course oftraining approved by the Department and published on theDepartment’s approval list; and nine (9) months (1,365 hours) ofverified experience in the care and supervision of four (4) or morechildren less than eight (8) years of age who are not related tothe individual; or, Three (3) months (455 hours) of verifiedexperience in the care and supervision of four (4) or more childrenless than eight (8) years of age who are not related to theindividual; and the completion of eighteen (18) semester credithours from an accredited college or university in Early ChildhoodEducation, with one (1) course as: Introduction to Early ChildhoodProfessions; or, CODE

OF COLORADO REGULATIONS 12 CCR 2509-8

SocialServices Rules 52 Early Childhood Guidance Strategies for Childrenor has been issued a Colorado Pyramid Model Training certificate ofcompletion; or, Twenty-one (21) months (3,185 hours) of verifiedexperience in the care and supervision of four (4) or more childrenless than eight (8) years of age who are not related to theindividual. Satisfactory experience includes being a licensee of aColorado Family Child Care Home, a Teacher’s Aide or Teacher in achildcare center, preschool, or elementary school. In addition, theindividual must either: Possess a current Early ChildhoodProfessional Credential Level I or higher in Versions as determinedby the Department; or, Complete two (2) three (3) semester credithour courses from an accredited college or university in EarlyChildhood Education with (1) course as either: Introduction ToEarly Childhood Professions or has been issued the ChildDevelopment Associate (CDA) Credential; Or, Early ChildhoodGuidance Strategies for Children or has been issued a ColoradoPyramid Model Training certificate of completion. All course gradesused for the Early Childhood Teacher requirements must be a “C” orbetter.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

When authorized, may drive a 15- passenger vanwith children and adults to field trips and activities

PHYSICALDEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

Able to lift, carry, or otherwisemove and position a minimum of 30 pounds on an occasional basis.

Ability to work for extended periods of time sitting, bending,reaching, and speaking on a constant basis. Talking and hearingoccur continuously in the process of communicating with children,co-teachers, directors, and parents. Routine cleaning of surfacesand toys. Loading dishwasher and washer, mopping the floors whenneeded. Routine sanitizing and disinfecting with hazardouschemicals. Ability to work for extended periods of time standing,walking, kneeling, pushing, and pulling on an occasional basis.

Mountain Environment:

Be prepared to take children outside inweather as cold as 5°. Closed toed shoe are recommended due tovarying ground surfaces. You will be provided an outdoor uniform.

Supervising children in busy, tourist environment.

Housekeeping:

Most work tasks are performed indoors- temperature is moderate andcontrolled by environmental systems. Talking and hearing occurcontinuously in the process of communicating with children,parents, directors, and other employees. Vision occurs continuouslywith the most common visual functions being those of near visionand depth perception. Requires manual dexterity to use and operateall necessary equipment and products. Able to wear personalprotective equipment including but not limited to non-slip shoes,protective eyewear, and protective gloves. To perform this jobsuccessfully, an individual must be able to perform each essentialduty satisfactorily- reasonable accommodations may be made toenable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform theessential functions
