The Infant-Toddler Flex Teacher is responsible for the care, supervision, and management of a class of Infant, Waddler, or Toddler students in accordance with the mission and curriculum plan of Saint Paul’s School. The principal duties of the Infant-Toddler Teacher include but are not limited to: conducting focused observation and assessment of children, developing action plans and curriculum, preparing and executing activities daily, evaluating the effectiveness of child development activities, ensuring the safety and well-being of the children, maintain regular communication with parents, and contribute to the effective operation of the Early Learning Center.

Primary Responsibilities:

Maintain an open, cheerful attitude Work harmoniously and collaboratively with a co-teacher Establish a close bond with children based on respect and trust Establish a close bond with families that communicates our appreciation of and respect for each family and their culture Create an engaging, exciting classroom environment where children feel safe, welcome, and valued Ensure that each child receives the necessary amount of food, water, sleep, and nurturance Spend quality time interacting with children socially Ensure that children experience a balance of stimulation and relaxation throughout the day Establish routines that make the day predictable for children Establish routines that support smooth transitions throughout the day Establish predictable routines for communication with families using “we” language Work collaboratively with colleagues to build and maintain a positive work environment for all Implement a child-centered curriculum and learning environment that promotes social and emotional development, language development, cognitive development, and motor development Plan daily activities that stimulate the five senses and encourage exploration and discovery Respond to the emotional needs of children, whether that be a need for security, a need to explore, or a need to assert independence Communicate faculty needs via Maintenance Requests and/or Director of Early Learning Communicate concerns about students and/or their families to the Director of Early Learning Follow Pinellas County licensing procedures and regulations

Parent Communication:

Maintain warm and informative communication with families about daily and upcoming events, their child’s development, and class life via website, face-to-face conversations, and emails Send home a minimum of 3 text/email/Kaymbu posts weekly with a photo of their child enjoying school life to build trust and rapport with families

Record Keeping:

Post weekly Lesson Plans on the Kaymbu website and in the classroom Take daily attendance on paper per licensing regulations Maintain an accurate log of each child’s daily personal care (i.e., meals, sleep, diaper changes) Monitor and record student growth overall learning domains Complete Medication forms (as needed) Complete Ouch reports (as needed) Keep up-to-date Professional Development Records Communicate with parents regarding food events 24 hours in advance via Kaymbu or email

Student Record Keeping:

Maintain a record of each child’s developmental growth Complete Ouch Reports to document accidents/incidents on the day of the occurrence.

Outdoor Duties:

Weather permitting, ensure children get adequate outdoor play time daily Track transitions to and from the play area and specials, and record them on the daily attendance sheet Inspect the playground equipment and area before children use it to ensure it is safe Spray and sanitize playground equipment after use Bring water bottles to the outdoor play area and offer children water regularly Provide close supervision of children when outdoors (disperse in order to supervise play areas) Tidy outdoor play areas before closing (trikes put in the garage) Ensure proper hand-washing protocols are followed after outdoor play

Daily Cleaning and Sanitizing Routines:

Wash and sanitize the changing station after each use Ensure that toys that have been mouthed or are dirty are placed in a labeled bin to be washed before being returned to the play area Clean and sanitize bibs Sweep the hard floors after crafts, meals, and before closing Wash and sanitize all counters and sinks after using and before closing Mop floor as necessary Wash and sanitize all large play surfaces immediately if soiled and before closing Place soiled diapers in the trash can outside immediately after changing

Weekly Cleaning and Sanitizing Routines:

Sanitize cribs, cots, and mattresses Sanitize walls, shelves & surfaces Send home sheets, blankets, and comfort creatures to be laundered Launder plush items

Education and Experience:

Minimum of an AA in Early Childhood or Child Development Early Childhood teaching experience Must achieve and maintain certification of 40 hours within the first year, as mandated by Florida DCF Must complete a minimum of 10 Professional Development hours yearly

Working Conditions:

Must be able to work a 9-hour shift between 7:00 AM and 5:30 PM, with a 1-hour lunch break. Flexibility is required to open (7:00 AM – 4:00 PM) or close (8:30 AM – 5:30 PM) five days per week. Must inform the Director, Assistant to the Director, and Doyle Towne Landing Coordinator of requested schedule changes via email at least 24 hours in advance. Must be able to work with multiple distractions and changing priorities Must act in a professional manner at all times Must be able to lift 35 lbs, bending, squatting, and twisting Must be able to multitask Must be flexible with a good sense of humor Must be a team player
