Position Summary:
The Infant/Toddler Caregiver/Educator is responsible for day-to-day operation and management of the classroom. Responsible for guiding and directing the learning experiences for infants, toddlers, and two-year-olds by providing a developmentally appropriate learning environment. In this position you should possess high energy and the ability to handle the demands of babies and toddlers with different personalities and needs. The ideal candidate will be supportive of all children and families, show integrity at all times, be committed to our mission, be honest and trustworthy in every interaction, and LOVE children.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent. Must have a CDA or FCCPC Must be willing to complete DCF state-required courses within eight months of hire. Must be willing to work as a team with an assigned co-worker. Must have excellent oral, written, and organizational skills. Must have a great attitude and work well with others. You must be sensitive to the needs of low-income people.
Essential Functions:
(Duties and Responsibilities) Completes all developmental assessments, screenings, and observations of all children within 45 days of enrollment. Develops and implements an individualized plan for each child. Plans and implements with a co-worker lesson plans with developmentally appropriate activities. Provides supervision and a positive social and learning experience at all times including family-style mealtime. Cleans classroom as needed during the day, including all supplies/equipment, toys, and furniture, and ensures that all are put away at the end of the school day. Cleans and sanitizes bathroom daily. Mops and sweeps classroom and bathroom daily. Participates with co-worker in the daily evaluation of the children’s learning in all areas of development and records. Makes at least two home visits per school year to encourage parent’s participation in their children’s education and assist with learning activities that can be conducted at home. Prepares documentation and maintains records, including anecdotal notes concerning the child’s attendance, individualized plans, progress, problems, and health and parent contacts. Holds at least two conferences with the parent(s) concerning the progress and development of the child. Refers children to appropriate program service areas when necessary. Interacts positively with the children during activities and throughout the day in accordance with Head Start Performance Standards. Organizes classrooms into learning centers and workspaces according to the curriculum design that meets all local, state and federal requirements. Plans, implements, and supervises a large group of outdoor play activities and ensures the safety of children while outdoors. Records daily attendance of each child. This position is hourly, full-time, full-year, non-exempt, and non-union. The pay range is $19.43 up to $34.94, commensurate with the certification or degree held.
