This is a proactive, responsive position that improves classroom stability, educator effectiveness, and child outcomes across multiple sites. The DSE is embedded within the center’s day-to-day structure but remains flexible and mobile, rotating between classrooms based on identified needs. Their presence enables deeper collaboration, targeted intervention, and meaningful family and staff engagement.

In collaboration with the teaching team and support professionals, implement individualized strategies informed by behavioral data, developmental milestones, and educator feedback. Teacher & Team Support Model responsive classroom practices and support teaching staff in implementing individualized support strategies. Serve as a site-based thought partner by sharing data-driven insights and effective practices with colleagues during meetings or training sessions. Data & Documentation Track and document behavior incidents, intervention implementation, and child progress using center-approved tools. Support the collection and analysis of behavioral data and collaborate on the development of responsive classroom plans. Maintain confidentiality and follow all compliance requirements related to documentation and data sharing. School Culture & Child Advocacy Model and promote a positive, restorative approach to child behavior and emotional development. Communicate effectively with families, supporting them in understanding their child’s development and engaging them in the intervention process. Respond to urgent classroom needs and assist in creating short- and long-term strategies to support the center’s social-emotional climate.

Required Qualifications:

Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, Child Development, or a closely related field (Bachelor’s preferred) Minimum of 2 years of experience in early childhood settings including significant experience with children requiring behavioral or developmental interventions Demonstrated knowledge of inclusive classroom practices, behavioral de-escalation, trauma-informed care, and individualized support plans Familiarity with intervention documentation tools and reporting practices Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and coaching skills Ability to adapt quickly in dynamic environments, problem-solve in real time, and build trust with young children and adults alike

Working knowledge of IEPs, IFSPs, and other individualized planning tools Certification or training in non-violent crisis intervention, trauma-informed practice, or early childhood behavioral guidance Commitment to restorative justice principles and socio-emotional learning in early education Bilingual or multilingual abilities are a plus

Commitment & Expectations:

Willingness to integrate into the school’s routine and be available across classrooms as needed Active participation in professional development, with a responsibility to share key learnings across sites This position is funded for one calendar year through the High Five ECHO Fund Grant.
