Lead Teacher (Infant Toddler) $5,000 bonus (37.50 hr/wk,($26.61-$31.62/hour + bilingual differential) Northampton, MA – HeadStart & Early Learning Programs

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for overall classroomoperations in accordance with Head Start Performance Standards,Department of Early Education and Care Regulations, National Associationfor the Education of Young Children, and MA Department of EducationFrameworks. Work with parents and community to implement individualizedSchool Readiness goals. Ensure adequate bus monitor coverage for busroute.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

Associate Degree in Early ChildhoodEducation, or related field and actively enrolled in Baccalaureateprogram with one year experience in appropriate early childhood setting.

Department of Early Education & Care Lead Teacher certified (forappropriate age group of assigned classroom).

ESSENTIAL

RESPONSIBILITIESCommitment to quality early care and education. Complete and maintainEEC Professional Qualifications Registry (PQR) and IndividualProfessional Development Plan (IPDP). Obtain and maintain CPR andEmergency Pediatric First Aid certification according to EECregulations. Practice and maintain current knowledge of the Head StartProgram Performance Standards, EEC Regulations, HS & ELP ServiceDelivery, and NAEYC criterion. Ensure the appropriate supervision ofchildren, including implementation of protocols for the care of youngchildren both in the classroom and on the bus. Ensure healthy and safeenvironments for young children. Provide support and guidance forteaching staff through ongoing supervision and monthly observation,including volunteers and interns, as assigned. Ensure completion ofweekly curriculum, child anecdotal records, child assessments, homevisits and family conferences. Engage with families in creating schoolreadiness goals for children. Work with program and communityspecialists to implement goals through program’s case managementsystem. Fill in for bus monitor as needed, completing daily passengerlogs, pre and post trip bus inspections. Cover for other classrooms asneeded. Remote work from home will be assigned and determined by yoursupervisor; When schedule requires remote work, expected to be availablefor meetings, calls, responding to emails, and conducting regular dutiesduring standard service/agency hours. Standard ofConduct. Attend all appropriate program workshops and meetings,including site Family Meetings. Adhere to agency confidentialitypolices. SKILLS REQUIRED

Basiccomputer skills: using a mouse, email, Microsoft office. Excellentverbal (in-person and phone) and written communication skills. Excellentorganizational skills and attention to detail. Understanding of datacapture and tracking methods. Sensitivity to cultural and socioeconomicdiversity and the needs of individuals with low incomes.
