General Summary:

The Early Childhood Education (ECE) Program at Middlesex Community College is seeking a dedicated and innovative individual to serve in the combined role of Full-Time Faculty and Program Coordinator. This position offers an exciting opportunity for a passionate educator to lead and enhance the Early Childhood Education program, ensuring academic excellence, student success, and strong community partnerships. The Coordinator will work closely with the Department Chair of Elementary Education and report to the Dean of Business, Legal Studies, and Public Service. As a faculty member, you will teach a variety of courses within the Early Childhood Education program, focusing on child development, curriculum planning, and inclusive teaching strategies. As the Program Coordinator, you will provide leadership in curriculum development, program accreditation, student advising, and community outreach.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Curriculum Development & Teaching:

Develop, teach, and assess a variety of courses within the Early Childhood Education program, incorporating diverse instructional methods and technologies to engage students. Ensure curriculum aligns with state and national standards for Early Childhood Education and transfer pathways to four-year institutions. Promote culturally responsive teaching practices and integrate diversity, equity, and inclusion into course content. Support student learning through innovative approaches, including service-learning, field placements, and experiential learning opportunities. Stay current with trends and best practices in early childhood education, incorporating new developments into the curriculum. Provide timely feedback and assessment to students, supporting their academic and professional growth.

Program Coordination & Leadership:

Provide academic leadership for the Early Childhood Education program, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and accreditation standards. Work closely with the Department Chair of Elementary Education to coordinate course offerings and faculty assignments. Support student advising, guiding students on academic pathways, licensure requirements, and career opportunities in early childhood education. Develop and maintain partnerships with local childcare centers, schools, and community organizations to enhance field placement and career opportunities for students. Oversee program accreditation, assessment, and compliance with state regulations. Coordinate program review and continuous improvement efforts, utilizing student learning outcomes and assessment data. Facilitate meetings with faculty, advisory boards, and community partners to support program development and industry alignment. Foster a supportive and inclusive environment that encourages student retention, success, and transfer to four-year institutions. Assist students with navigating academic requirements, career pathways, and transfer options. Serve as the primary point of contact for inquiries related to the Early Childhood Education program. Manage program scheduling, student enrollment trends, and course sequencing to optimize student success. Participate in division and college-wide initiatives, contributing to committee work and institutional planning. Represent the program at college recruitment events, open houses, and community engagement activities. Advocate for the needs of early childhood education students, faculty, and the program at large.

Job Requirements:

Master’s degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Education, or a related field. Experience teaching at the college level, with a strong understanding of early childhood education theory and practice. Strong knowledge of state and national early childhood education standards and licensure requirements. Ability to develop and maintain partnerships with early childhood education providers, schools, and community organizations. Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills. Ability to integrate technology and innovative teaching practices to enhance student learning. Experience in academic advising, faculty mentorship, and program coordination is preferred. Bilingual proficiency in Spanish, Portuguese, or Khmer, a plus

Salary Range:

$58,438 is the starting salary for an Assistant Professor with a Master’s Degree; actual salary commensurate with academic background and experience.
