Behavior Specialist•Afterschool Preschool
Kids In Action seeks a Behavior Specialist to work with the afterschool teachers to provide a safe, nurturing environment with enriching, developmentally appropriate activities that provide opportunities for recreation, social development and create exploration for children. Provide students with Social Emotional Learning and Behavioral Support in group settings and in individual settings as needed.
Responsibilities
Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of the children. Be alert to the needs of the children as individuals and as a group.
Work with children needing support to be successful at Kids in Action. May include 1:1 support
Assist children to engage in activities and promote positive interactions with others
Participate in program activities and maintain enthusiasm as an example for the children
Intervene in potential conflicts using appropriate de-escalation techniques
Maintain open communication and positive working relationships with coworkers
Participate in ten hours of Professional Development, related to Early Childhood Development and Curriculum
Complete ten hours of EEC StrongStart Professional Development
Complete First Aid and CPR training annually
Attend monthly team curriculum planning and staff meetings.

Locations:

East Elementary, Foster Elementary, Plymouth River Elementary, South Elementary

Hours:

Monday through Friday 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood or Elementary Education or a related field
Safety Care certified
Experience working in Special Education
Experience provide Social Emotional supports
Ability to work collaboratively within a team
Experience with de-escalation techniques
Able to lift up to 20lbs.
Excellent communication
Ability to remain confidential at all times
Ability to work collaboratively within a team
Clear all HPS and EEC background checks
