Charles, MO Schedule:

Monday-Friday, 7:45 a.m. – 3:30, 40 hours per week. August – May Only. Approximately 1296 hours per school year.

Class Size:

Maximum 10 children The Gan St. Charles is a boutique, Jewish Montessori-inspired preschool based in a warm, residential community center. We serve children ages 18 months to 5 years in a nurturing, creative, and child-centered environment. Our approach emphasizes intuitive teaching, natural rhythms, gentle guidance, and deep respect for the individuality of each child. Job Summary We are seeking a preschool teacher who is intuitive, passionate about early childhood education, and truly loves being with children. This is an ideal role for someone who appreciates a small, close-knit setting and is excited to create a meaningful, joyful experience for young learners. Whether you’re a retired educator, a seasoned teacher, or someone with strong experience working with children in a non-traditional setting, we welcome your unique gifts and presence in our space. This position is supported by a Director of Culture, a director of Curriculum, and a teacher assistant. Responsibilities Create and lead a nurturing, developmentally appropriate learning environment that aligns with Montessori principles and Jewish values Foster curiosity, independence, and joy in the children’s daily experiences Plan and implement activities across areas of development: social-emotional, cognitive, sensory, and creative Guide children with warmth, presence, and respect-modeling emotional regulation and problem-solving Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers to build a strong partnership and share observations Collaborate with the director to ensure smooth classroom flow and thoughtful transitions – Help maintain an orderly, peaceful, and safe classroom environment Participate in team meetings and ongoing professional development Qualifications Deep love and intuitive understanding of young children Prior experience working with preschool-aged children required Montessori training or experience is a plus (but not required) Common sense, creativity, flexibility, and a calm presence Strong communication and collaboration skills Must pass a background check and obtain CPR/First Aid certification Background in Jewish education or comfort with Jewish traditions is not required We believe that the heart of the classroom is the teacher.
