This role ensures the spiritual, social-emotional, cognitive, and physical development of each child in accordance with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) guidelines and the policies of St. John’s Lutheran Church & School. Key Responsibilities Learning Program Design & Delivery Plan, prepare, and implement weekly lesson plans aligned with NC Foundations for Early Learning Incorporate objectives across all developmental domains: social-emotional, cognitive, physical, and spiritual Provide play-based, sensory-rich learning experiences that foster curiosity, creativity, and academic readiness Maintain developmental assessments and portfolios Offer faith integration through Bible stories, prayer, and worship Supervision & Guidance Maintain active supervision and safe teacher-to-child ratios in all settings Guide positive behavior using grace-filled, developmentally appropriate strategies Support children’s independence through predictable routines and individualized care Provide hands-on support with diapering, toileting, and personal hygiene Adapt instruction for children with diverse developmental needs Family Engagement Communicate daily with parents about routines, development, and classroom experiences Provide progress updates via conferences, portfolios, and digital communication Partner with families to support consistency in learning and behavior Encourage parent involvement in classroom and school-wide events Team Collaboration & Professionalism Work closely with aides, co-teachers, and preschool staff to ensure consistency of care Participate in staff meetings, in-service training, and professional development Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and adherence to policies Reflect school values in all work, communication, and conduct Qualifications & Certifications Spiritual Qualifications

- North Carolina Child Care Qualification Letter (required)
- North Carolina Early Childhood Credential (EDU-119) or Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education (preferred)
- CPR and First Aid certification (preferred)
- Understanding of child development principles and early childhood education methods
- Familiarity with classroom health/sanitation protocols
