This role ensures the spiritual, social-emotional, cognitive, and physical development of each child in accordance with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) guidelines and the policies of St. John’s Lutheran Church & School. Key Responsibilities Learning Program Design & Delivery Plan, prepare, and implement weekly lesson plans aligned with NC Foundations for Early Learning Incorporate objectives across all developmental domains: social-emotional, cognitive, physical, and spiritual Provide play-based, sensory-rich learning experiences that foster curiosity, creativity, and academic readiness Maintain developmental assessments and portfolios Offer faith integration through Bible stories, prayer, and worship Supervision & Guidance Maintain active supervision and safe teacher-to-child ratios in all settings Guide positive behavior using grace-filled, developmentally appropriate strategies Support children’s independence through predictable routines and individualized care Provide hands-on support with diapering, toileting, and personal hygiene Adapt instruction for children with diverse developmental needs Family Engagement Communicate daily with parents about routines, development, and classroom experiences Provide progress updates via conferences, portfolios, and digital communication Partner with families to support consistency in learning and behavior Encourage parent involvement in classroom and school-wide events Team Collaboration & Professionalism Work closely with aides, co-teachers, and preschool staff to ensure consistency of care Participate in staff meetings, in-service training, and professional development Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and adherence to policies Reflect school values in all work, communication, and conduct Qualifications & Certifications Spiritual Qualifications

• Demonstrates a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, the Lord and Savior, in alignment with biblical teachings (John 3:3, 1 Peter 1:23)
• Views teaching and/or working with children as a spiritual calling, and recognizes this position at this Christian school is part of God’s plan.
• Lives out a Christ-centered lifestyle, modeling integrity, compassion, and godly character both in and out of the school building (1 Timothy 4:12), serving as a positive spiritual influence to students, colleagues, and the broader community.

• North Carolina Child Care Qualification Letter (required)
• North Carolina Early Childhood Credential (EDU-119) or Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education (preferred)
• CPR and First Aid certification (preferred)
• Understanding of child development principles and early childhood education methods
• Familiarity with classroom health/sanitation protocols
• Proficient in communication and instructional strategies Skills & Competencies Knowledge of Child development for ages 2-5 Classroom safety, diapering, toileting, and hygiene best practices Christian principles for early education Skills in Classroom management for multi-age groups Effective family and team communication Lesson planning and child observation Creativity, flexibility, and problem-solving in fast-paced environments Attributes Respectful, culturally aware, dependable, and team-oriented Motivated to foster growth and maintain a nurturing environment Physical & Environmental Demands • Must be able to bend, kneel, squat, lift children, and clean classroom equipment • Must respond quickly to children’s needs • Work takes place in a high-energy, dynamic classroom environment • Exposure to childhood illnesses, outdoor conditions, and minor injuries Work Schedule & Compensation • Full-Time • Monday-Friday, approximately 40 hours per week • Hourly pay based on experience and education • Eligible for benefits including health insurance, paid time off, and tuition discounts Reporting Structure • Reports directly to the Preschool Director as well as to the Assistant Preschool Director and School Principal • Collaborates closely with the classroom teaching team and school staff
