Position Summary:

The Toddler Teacher creates a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for the children in their care, encouraging their physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development through age-appropriate play and activities. The Toddler Teacher must possess excellent communication skills, especially when interacting with children and their parents or guardians. Additionally, the Toddler Teacher must have a strong understanding of child development and be able to manage and evaluate the behavior of the children in their care. They may also be responsible for keeping records and reporting on the progress of the children in their class. A successful Toddler Teacher will be a patient, dedicated, and caring individual who enjoys working with young children and helping them grow and learn.

Job Functions and Responsibilities:

Create a safe and nurturing environment for toddlers to learn and explore. Responsible for the well-being, health, hygiene, and safety of children always. Responsible for reporting any signs of child abuse and/or neglect to DSS. Also, responsible for reporting abnormal behaviors, illnesses, or injuries to administration and program directors. Develop lesson plans and curriculum that encourage social, emotional, and cognitive growth. Keep up to date, 3 weeks are always planned out. Complete daily attendance in Renweb for the students. Support and guide children in developing language, communication, and problem-solving skills. Observe and assess each child’s progress and development, and adjust the curriculum as needed. Communicate regularly with parents and guardians via Renweb about their child’s progress, needs, and concerns. Keep the administration aware of any concerns that may arise. Foster positive relationships and interactions between children and between children and adults. Maintain a clean and organized classroom and prepare materials and resources for daily activities. Decorate and keep classroom attractive, including bulletin boards and door. Manage behavioral issues and conflicts among children and collaborate with parents and other teachers to find solutions. Attend training and professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge as well as attend staff devotions. Maintain confidentiality concerning records of students, families, and co-workers. Follow Grace Academy policies/procedures and state guidelines on a regular and consistent basis. Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with staff. Must be able to give and receive information in a positive manner. Maintain professional attitude and loyalty to Grace Academy. Employees are expected to keep the administration informed of any questions, concerns or problem areas that may arise. Acknowledge each child with a smile and by name each day when arriving and/or leaving. Possess strong leadership qualities and skills with co-workers and students. Treat students, parents, and co-workers with respect and dignity. Patience and flexibility; ability to relate to young children and adults.

Qualifications:

Possess strong oral and written communication skills Works independently with little direct supervision Works as part of a team Accepts responsibility of job and is self-motivated Demonstrates strong work ethic to achieve desired goals Displays effective multi-tasking and time management skills

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) At least 2 years’ experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Childcare Credentials/Teaching Degree Physical Demands:

Lift up to 4o pounds Repetitive bending, stretching, and stooping Have the mobility required to ensure the safety of the children Work with children on the floor Work outdoors in a variety of weather Perform cleaning responsibilities as assigned
