Position Overview:

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Daycare Teacher to join our team in Wayne County. Key Responsibilities:
Teach and Support Development:

Plan and implement age-appropriate learning activities that promote physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development in 2-year-olds. Create a

Safe & Organized Classroom:

Maintain a structured environment that supports learning, exploration, and discovery. Ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming classroom at all times.

Manage Classroom Dynamics:

Effectively manage classroom transitions, routine activities, and behaviors while maintaining a calm and positive atmosphere.

Foster Emotional Growth:

Provide a nurturing space for children to express emotions and develop social skills. Build strong emotional connections with each child. Engage with

Parents & Staff:

Maintain open communication with parents about the child’s progress and behavior. Work closely with fellow educators and staff to provide a well-rounded support system.

Develop Creative Lesson Plans:

Incorporate play-based and hands-on activities, ensuring they are both educational and fun for young learners.

Required Skills and Qualities:
Communication:

Ability to clearly and effectively communicate with children using simple language and positive reinforcement. Skilled at recognizing non-verbal cues and adjusting communication style to meet individual needs. Also able to maintain clear communication with parents and team members.

Patience:

Must exhibit patience and calmness when dealing with young children, particularly when managing tantrums or meltdowns, understanding that 2-year-olds have short attention spans and require gentle guidance.

Child Development Expertise:

A deep understanding of the physical, cognitive, social, and emotional stages of development for 2-year-olds is essential to design and execute appropriate learning activities that support their growth.

Classroom Management:

Ability to establish and maintain a safe, organized classroom environment, manage behavior issues, and ensure that routines and transitions run smoothly.

Creativity:

A creative approach to lesson planning that integrates hands-on learning and play-based activities. Ability to design interactive and educational activities that keep children engaged while developing essential skills.

Empathy:

An innate ability to understand and respond to the emotional needs of children, providing them with comfort and support as they navigate their early years of learning.

Collaboration:

A team-oriented mindset to work closely with parents and other staff members to create a positive and effective learning environment.

Required Qualifications:
Educational Background:

A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent. Completion of EDU 119 (Introduction to Early Childhood Education) with a grade of “C” or better is required to earn the North Carolina Early Childhood Credential (NCECC), qualifying individuals for lead teacher positions in child care centers (ncchildcare.ncdhhs.gov).

Experience:

Previous experience working with children aged 2 years in a daycare or preschool setting is preferred.

Certifications:

CPR and First Aid certification are highly recommended.

Background Check:

Successful completion of a criminal background check as per North Carolina state regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:
Higher Education:

An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field is preferred.

Advanced Certifications:

Additional certifications such as the Child Development Associate (CDA) credential are advantageous. How to
