Job Description
Teacher – UPK Cattaraugus & Wyoming Counties Project Head Start Olean, NY 14760 Appropriate NYS Certification for Early Childhood, experience and background in early childhood education. Primary responsibility for classroom staff and educational activities for 3 and 4 year olds. This is classified as 10 month position, off during summer, eligible to collect unemployment.

- Lead the classroom team in planning and implementing all classroom activities including field trips; maintain classroom in a clean, safe and educationally sound manner; conduct monthly fire drills; integrate all program areas; oversee administration of developmental assessments leading to the design of an appropriate program for the enrolled children.
- Maintain documentation including, but not limited to, meal census, attendance, volunteers, substitute allowances, inventory of classroom supplies and equipment, child development and progress, requisition requests, and family contacts.
- Lead the classroom team in facilitating child development and interacting with families as necessary including conducting at least two home visits for each child; invite parents to center and classroom activities; educate parents in child development; develop and maintain regular communication with families, including monthly program calendars.
- Observe children in an ongoing manner, documenting those observations. Communicate any concerns immediately to the appropriate member of the Head Start Management Team for advice, counsel, and any direction(s).
- Work in partnership with all staff to facilitate all operations of the program in compliance with Head Start policies, regulations, guidelines and performance standards.
