Preschool Camp Counselor Oxbridge Development Center Queens, NY Job Summary:

We are seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic summer camp Counselor to support and enrich the afterschool experience for children aged 2-4 years. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment that fosters the social, emotional, and intellectual development of young children.

Key Responsibilities:
Supervision and Safety:

Provide active supervision of children to ensure their safety and well-being at all times. Follow safety protocols and emergency procedures as outlined by the program.

Activity Planning and Implementation:

Develop and implement age-appropriate activities that align with the program’s themes and goals (e.g., arts and crafts, storytelling, outdoor play). Adapt activities to meet the diverse needs and interests of the children.

Behavior Management:

Use positive behavior management techniques to guide and support children’s behavior. Foster a positive and respectful environment that encourages cooperation and self-regulation.

Social and Emotional Support:

Provide emotional support and guidance to help children develop social skills and build self-confidence. Address and resolve conflicts among children in a constructive manner.

Communication:

Maintain open and effective communication with children, parents, and program staff. Provide regular updates to parents about their child’s progress and any notable incidents.

Program Administration:

Assist with daily program routines, including snack time, rest time, and transition between activities. Help with setup and cleanup of activities and ensure the classroom environment is organized and welcoming.

Professional Development:

Participate in training and professional development opportunities as required. Stay informed about best practices in early childhood education and implement new strategies as appropriate.

Qualifications:
Education:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience:

2 years’ experience of Summer Camp or have been in a camp setting

Skills:

Strong understanding of child development and early learning principles. Ability to create a stimulating and supportive environment for young children. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Patience, creativity, and a positive attitude. Ability to work collaboratively with other staff members and parents.

Certifications:

CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain. Background check clearance required.

Working Conditions:

This position may require standing, sitting on the floor, and engaging in physical activities with children. Must be able to lift and carry children and equipment as needed.

Please note:

This is a seasonal position. Workers will be classified as independent contractors and will receive a 1099 form.

Job Type:
Part-time Pay:

$16.00 – $18.00 per hour
