Early Childhood – Teacher Little Learners Lodge Mount Pleasant, SC 29464 Summary Little Learners Lodge and Montessori of Mount Pleasant is seeking a Collaborative Early Childhood team member to join our Zero-Three faculty. Teachers are responsible for contributing to the cohesive teaching team, coordinating the RIE and Montessori curriculum, and managing the day-to-day operational activities of the classroom. The Guide must understand children’s cognitive, social, emotional and physical development in order to ensure a safe and prepared environment where children are actively engaged and intrinsically motivated. Teachers model the integration of best practices into daily implementation and contribute to outreach programs outside the childcare services such as parent guidance classes, community meetings, blog posts, and training videos and conferences. MMPSchool offers an intentionally small private preschool as a demonstration site for its training services. The center is comprised of 12-15 faculty members- half are Mentor Master Early Childhood Teachers with over 15 years experience at the school. Families commit to enrolling long term (3 to 6 years) partnering with teachers valuing primary and continuity of care. While licensed for 112 children, we maintain an enrollment of no more than 80 children ages infancy through Kindergarten. Duties Coordinate and implement educational curriculum by developing classroom activities based on RIE, Pikler and Montessori Lead by example; encourage teaching team success through modeling and coaching. Plan individual and group age-appropriate activities to actively engage children and encourage social, cognitive and emotional growth. Maintain frequent communications with parents through informal discussions, progress reports, and parent-teacher conferences. Ensure all center policies and state regulations are met. Ensure a healthy classroom environment ? including maintaining appropriate hygiene and cleanliness standards and safety and security of children. Maintain accurate records, forms and files. Maintain personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement. Requirements Minimum of 2 years of professional child care experience or equivalent education. Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills. Positive energy and the ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) and to foster a team environment. Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification. Must clear full background check and must pass health screening. Requirements include the ability teach outdoors, handle objects, tools or controls, talk to and hear voices at many levels. May also be required to kneel, bend, squat or crawl. Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Nice To Haves Montessori or RIE experience and/or certification. Bilingual (Spanish/French preferred). Interest in gardening, composting, baking and the natural world. Food and beverage experience.
