Early Childhood Teacher Position Available In Charleston, South Carolina

Early Childhood Teacher Greater Goodwill Child Development Center 2818 N Highway 17, Mount Pleasant, SC 29466 GGCDC’s purpose is to support children’s school readiness by providing a safe, culturally and linguistically responsive, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment. Provide guidance to volunteers under the supervision of the Center Director. All teaching staff are required to follow job specifications as follows: Meet all current GGCDC, state and local child care employee regulations including First Aid and CPR. Complete a minimum of 15 clock hours of Professional Development Training (age group specific) per year.

Preferred :

Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field and a minimum of six months experience working with children birth-five years old.

Accepted:

Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field and a minimum of six months experience working with children birth-five years old, High School Diploma or GED.

Accepted Infant/Toddler:

Child Development (CDA)

Credential:

State Equivalency, High School Diploma or GED and a minimum of six months experience working with children birth-five years old.

Skills, Knowledge and Ability:

Good communication skills; ability to read written and electronic information efficiently. Basic computer skills (Microsoft applications: Word, Excel and Outlook).

Working Conditions:

Child Development Center environment; flexible work hours (occasional evening/weekend/overtime).

Physical Requirements :

Physically able to perform tasks, including but not limited to, bending, lifting and moving a minimum of 25 pounds.

Essential Functions:

Work in collaboration with the Center Director and staff to develop and maintain an open and friendly relationship with each other as with the child’s family. Help to demonstrate a safe, respectful and supportive workplace environment. Adhere to and practice GGCDC Policies and Procedures. Complete all classroom documentation including children’s assessments, individualized and group activity plans, child observations and other documents as delinated. Monitor classroom and playground for safety as outlined. Attend and participate in all trainings, staff meetings as requested/approved by supervisor according to Professional Development Plan.
