All our staff are DSS certified, experienced and educated in early childhood, and boast a passion for children. The Assistant Director plays a crucial role in supporting the overall management and operation of a child care facility. Love Learning Center is searching for a compassionate, self-motivated, detail-oriented candidate for our Assistant Director position . This position involves collaborating with the Director to ensure high-quality educational programs and maintaining compliance with DSS Regulations. Our ideal candidate must have strong oral and written communication skills, be a team player have a passion for education, strong leadership skills, and fostering a nurturing environment for both children and staff. Responsibilities Perform center management duties in the absence of the Director. Assist the Director in the hiring, monitoring, evaluating, supporting, coaching, and disciplining of the staff. Assist with all day-to-day operations of the center and parent communication. Support the development and implementation of educational programs that meet the needs of children. Provide guidance to teachers with individual classroom lesson plans for their specific age group ensuring age appropriateness or any classroom challenges that they may have. Ensure classrooms are maintained within DSS policies and regulations as well as center policies. Assisting director will assist providing classroom coverage as needed when teachers are absent or need assistance with transitions. Ensuring cleanliness in all areas, as well as maintenance of personal areas of responsibility. Plan and coordinate the summer program Supervising the completion of evaluations that are required to be conducted twice a year. Provide helpful educational resources for both teachers and parents that address issues both personally and professionally. Assisting director in providing staff development oppotunities.
Requirements:
The center co-director(s) shall be at least 21 years of age and meet one of the following qualifications: (i) A bachelor’s degree or advanced degree from a state-approved college or university in early childhood education, child development, child psychology or a related field that includes at least eighteen credit hours in child development and/or early childhood education; or (ii) A bachelor’s degree from a state-approved college or university in any subject area, six months experience working with children in a licensed, approved or registered child care facility; or (iii) An associate’s degree from a state-approved college or university in early childhood education, child development, child psychology or a related field, that includes at least eighteen credit hours in child development and/or early childhood education with six months’ work experience in a licensed, approved or registered child care facility; or (iv) A diploma in child development/early childhood education from a state-approved institution or a child development associate credential (CDA), and one year work experience in a licensed, approved or registered child care facility; or (v) A High School Diploma or GED, and Early Childhood Development (ECD) 101 with 3 years’ experience in a licensed, approved or registered child care facility. One year shall include supervision of child care staff. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively educate staff and engage families. Ability to lead a team while fostering a positive, collaborative work environment. Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and ensure a safe environment Familiarity with safety and sanitation guidelines for classrooms Ability to act as mediator between staff and children Cool-tempered, friendly and reliable Balance between a creative mind and a practical acumen Certification in child CPR or able to be certified upon hire.
