Child Care Teacher Paisley Hall Nashville, TN 37209 POSITION Child Care Worker/Teacher/PreSchool Educator SUMMARY This is a Full-Time position at Paisley Hall – 8:00 am to 5:30 pm M – F (No nights, no weekends). We are set in a beautiful Victorian cottage in Sylvan Park, West Nashville. The Teacher must understand children’s cognitive, social, emotional and physical development in order to ensure a safe and stimulating classroom environment where children are actively engaged and encouraged to succeed. The Teacher must be skilled in communicating with both children and adults in order to meet the needs of the children and resolve parental concerns. The Teacher will receive training in these areas, as well as in co-managing the day-to-day operational activities of the classroom. Must be at least 18 years of age, have at least a High School degree and be fully vaccinated for COVID-19, have current Flu and Tetanus (which is good for 10 years) vaccine, and a recent negative TB skin test. DUTIES Assisting Director and Lead Teacher in developing classroom activities based on developmentally appropriate practices and early learning standards Help plan individual and group age-appropriate activities to actively engage children and encourage social, cognitive and emotional growth. Maintain frequent communications with parents through informal discussions and progress reports. Ensure all Paisley Hall policies and state regulations are met. Ensure a healthy classroom environment – including maintaining appropriate hygiene and cleanliness standards as well as safety and security of children. Help maintain accurate records, forms and files. Maintain personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement.
REQUIREMENTS
Have attained at least High School diploma (or equivalent) and a Minimum of 1 year of professional child care experience. Strong oral and written communication skills. Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification (we will help in this, if needed). Must clear full background check and must pass health screening. High energy and the ability to work well with others (staff, children, and parents) and to help foster and maintain a team environment. A strong understanding of child development. Requirements include the ability to use hands and fingers, handle objects, tools or controls, talk to and hear voices at many levels. May also be required to kneel, bend, squat or crawl and be able to lift a 25 – 30 lb. child, when necessary. A specific vision ability will be required including the ability to see up close and up to a certain distance, to see colors, have peripheral vision and depth perception. Excellent interpersonal skills. Be reliable and punctual. Casual, comfortable and appropriate attire.
