OUR MISSION

: Opened over five decades ago the heart of King’s Daughters Child Development Center’s mission today remains the same: In service and faith, we nurture children in an engaging learning community regardless of income. As a United Way supported, nonprofit child care facility, KDCDC annually serves approximately 82 children, from infants to five years old and 15

• 20 school-age children during the summer months.

Families pay weekly fees on a sliding scale based on income.

WHO WE SERVE

: We serve children ages 6 weeks up to 5 years old (or until they enter Kindergarten) and their families. We are a 3 STAR center and adhere to the NAEYC code of conduct . The work of the Toddler Teacher requires simultaneous attention to teaching and caregiving, while offering a safe and nurturing environment for children.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Child Development:

• Is caring and enjoys teaching young children
• Will provide a safe and nurturing environment in the classroom
• Will help lead a Reggio inspired /Emergent Curriculum/DAP classroom
• Fosters an environment in which toddlers can develop and reach age-appropriate milestones
• Values play as an essential to a toddler’s development and learning

Communication:

• Is a team player; willing to collaborate and be flexible
• Can communicate clearly and professionally with all families and staff
• Is open to furthering education/professional development

Further Responsibilities:

• Knowledge of simple technology use (using Microsoft Word, Email, etc.)
• Follows guidelines set forth by King’s Daughters, DHS, and any other guidelines set forth for care
• Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

:

• Available to work full-time Monday-Friday (Currently operating between hours 7:00am-5:00pm) required
• _High School diploma or GED required_
• Associates degree in early childhood education/ similar fields or CDA certification preferred
• Ability to pass Child Care Investigation (per DHS licensing) required
• Experience in an early childhood setting is preferred
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds is required
