Full-time Early Childhood Floater/Substitute Teacher CSUMC Preschool Knoxville, TN 37902 Summary The Preschool Floater will assist teachers as needed with daily classroom activities including transitions, meal or playground supervision, indoor play, art activities, and light cleaning. The Preschool Floater will relieve teachers for lunch and plan breaks and substitute for a class if a teacher is out. The ideal candidate will be engaging, flexible, patient, and reliable. S/he will maintain active supervision and ensure the safety and comfort of the children in his/her care. We are open Monday-Friday 7:30-6:00 and shifts can fall anytime during this time period. This position is full-time and has varying hours depending on the needs of the program each week. Duties � Coordinate daily structured activities for children and actively supervise children at play in the classroom, in the gym, or on the playground. � Anticipate and meet the immediate needs of children including personal hygiene needs that may arise. � Follow protocol for pickup to ensure that children leave only with authorized adults and that their departure is recorded. � Assist with light cleaning duties and daily closing procedures as needed. � Maintain a positive, calm demeanor and tone of voice. � Participate in ongoing professional development as required by the state of Tennessee and CSUMC Preschool. � Demonstrate professional and ethical behaviors and work habits when in contact with children, parents, and staff members. Requirements � Must possess at minimum a high school diploma or GED. � Must have the ability to handle the stresses of the job both physical (lifting children) and emotional. � Ability to respond quickly to the physical and emotional needs of children. � Must have Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification or the ability to obtain certification. � Must clear a full background check. Nice To Haves Experience in a childcare or other educational setting is preferred. Educational background in Child Development, Education, or a related field of study is preferred. Benefits Full-time position (approximately 35-40 hours per week).
Typical hours:
8:00-4:00, 9:00-5:00, 10:00-6:00 depending on weekly needs of the program. No nights or weekends.
Competitive pay:
$15-$17 per hour, depending on level of education and relevant experience.
