Job Description

A family of 8 in Nashville, Tennessee, is looking for a dedicated and experienced Nanny/Teacher to join their household. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional care and educational instruction for their children, creating a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment that promotes both academic growth and personal development. With children of varying ages, the candidate must be knowledgeable about age-appropriate activities and needs for each child. The three older children (6th, 4th and 3rd grade) are enrolled in online classes and the teacher will be responsible for making sure they get logged in on time and ready to go. The teacher will also be able to help identify areas they may be struggling and help provide extra support. They use a few different resources for the younger children and the teacher will help implement these programs directly. This role combines the responsibilities of a professional nanny and an educational instructor, ensuring a well-rounded and engaging experience for the children. The candidate should work well with other household staff and report directly to the family’s executive assistant. The family also has a second home out of state, and the candidate must be willing to travel with the children as needed for extended time. Typically they spend October-January in New Orleans and February to September in Nashville. This is subject to change and a high level of flexibility is required. Candidates will be responsible for providing their own housing in Nashville, but will be provided housing when out of town. When travel is not required, the candidate will assist the assistant with tasks locally. The ideal candidate will have a flexible approach, ready to help with any task and embrace a “nothing too big or too small” attitude. The family values an organized and clean home and is seeking someone who can maintain order and take initiative without constant direction. This individual will never be alone with all 6 kids, they always have at least 2 people there at a time. There is a nanny along with a second educator that will be there until June 2025. Once this educator transitions out, there is an opportunity for growth in responsibilities and pay. Responsibilities include, but not limited to: helping kids login to online school program, assist with homework, identify areas the children are struggling, help put together educational activities and projects, plan and conduct engaging and educational lessons in various subjects, including math, science, language arts, social studies, and more, foster positive and encouraging learning environment, incorporate hands-on activities, projects, and real-life experiences to enhance learning, stay up-to-date with current homeschooling practices and educational resources, keep the children learning and engaged during the summertime, ensuring that summer is not a break from educational growth, keep the parents informed on children’s progress, communicate with older students online teachers, organize and take the children to and from summer camps and activities, create and implement engaging summer activities that promote academic and personal growth, help with the baby, help maintain daily schedules, organize and supervise age appropriate activities and outings, ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times, assist with light household chores related to the children’s care and education, organize and maintain a clean and tidy learning space, ensuring that school rooms are kept extremely organized, plan and coordinate extracurricular activities, field trips, and socialization opportunities, provide attentive and compassionate care, gather supplies needed for the classroom area, help with meal prep for kids, travel with the family, and more! The ideal schedule is Monday – Friday 8am to 4pm with a guarantee of 40 hours. There will be the occasional opportunity for overtime hours, but it is not required! They are offering $70-80k DOE, 15 PTO/sick days. The family does have two small dogs, so candidates must be pet friendly. Candidates must be willing to sign an NDA! Candidates must have a minimum of 3+ years as a nanny/teacher or in a similar role. A bachelor’s degree in Education, Child Development or a related field is preferred. While they are looking for someone to be with them for years to come, candidates must be able to commit to a minimum of a year.
