POSITION SUMMARY
Child Care Teachers areresponsible for caring for the health, wellbeing andage-appropriate education in our child care setting. This includescommunicating any concerns, milestones and goals toparents/guardians of any children within the classroom. Mustimplement curriculum that is developmentally appropriate and willencourage engagement and participation. Responsible for maintainingthe health and safety of the facility, while observing all statemandated regulations. Child Care Teachers are also responsible forsupervising and providing guidance to any Teacher Assistants andClassroom Aides within their assigned classroom, ensuringcompliance with state regulations. There are Year-Round andSeasonal opportunities available. The wage for this role is$22.00/hr.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Interact with, initiate, andencourage children in all activities during the day, ensuring theirsafety at all times
- Create and implement an age appropriatecurriculum using the Vermont Early Childhood Learning Standards
- Foster communication between parents and caregivers
- Responsiblefor the development and maintenance of portfolios for all childrenin the reoccurring program
- Perform behavioral and cognitiveassessments for all children in their care at least two times peryear
- Organize and prepare for parent teacher conferences
- Mustcomplete 24 hours of approved professional development annually
- Be knowledgeable in, and uphold, state licensing requirements andregulations
- Everyone employed at Stratton Child Care Center is amandated reporter and is responsible for calling the Department ofChild and Family Services to report any suspected abuse or neglect,as outlined by DCF
- Be prepared to understand and immediatelyfollow designated protocol for reporting unsafe conditions
- Otherduties as assigned
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Education:
High School Diploma, or equivalent required At least 21 collegecredits in Early Education or a qualifying Associate’s Degree Mustmeet, or exceed, Vermont standards for Teacher Associate position
Experience:
At least 1 year of experience working in a licensedchildcare center, or as an Early Elementary Educator Must be atleast 20 years of age
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITYREQUIREMENT S
First Aid & CPR Certified Knowledge of Windows, Word,Outlook and Excel Detail oriented Strong communication, written andverbal
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
- This position willbe required to winter weekends and holidays
- Must be able to lift40 (forty) pounds, on a regular and repeating basis To perform thisjob successfully, an individual must be able to perform eachessential duty satisfactorily with or without reasonableaccommodations.
