Psychology Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Wheaton College (MA) Department of Psychology and Neuroscience invites applications for a Professor of the Practice position beginning July 1, 2025. We seek an educator with teaching experience able to teach across our curriculum to work with a group of enthusiastic and engaged faculty dedicated to the preparation of undergraduate students. Professors of the Practice are full-time teaching faculty who possess expertise and achievements in a field of instruction. Professors of Practice are expected to provide service to the college or/and their department after their first year. This is a full-time, renewable position focused on excellence in undergraduate teaching and pedagogical innovation. Professors of the Practice receive initial one-year contracts, become eligible for a two-year contract after their second year, and can seek promotion to Senior Professor of the Practice and ongoing three-year contracts after their fourth year. Professors of the Practice are eligible for college funding to support their professional development. Teaching responsibilities include three courses per semester. The candidate will teach Introduction to Psychology and Quantitative Research Methods, as well as courses from across our broader curriculum, such as: Statistics for the Social Sciences. Cognition, Perception, Lifespan Development, Moral Development, Psychology of Women, an upper division course in the candidate’s area of specialization, among others. Candidates who are able to contribute courses to our race and diversity offerings (e.g., Multicultural Psychology, Race & Psychology) are especially encouraged to apply. Minimum Qualifications:
A PhD in Psychology, Neuroscience, or a closely related field is required.
